I guarantee this: the Republican nominee for President will make SOME of us unhappy, because "our favorite" didn't get the nod.
Granted.
But every dissenting voice on SCOTUS today affirmed that the question of marriage is one for STATES and not the federal government.
Simply put, Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg is not going to live forever...and if God grants us a more conservative executive next, he or she will have a golden opportunity to OVERTURN this ruling.
I will be voting Republican in the hopes of such a ruling.
Though I do think the society is imploding any way, it is a hope.....
The bottom line is that we are in need of spiritual awakening. The church of Jesus Christ (from all denominations) must repent and love God and neighbour....and at the same time stand up for the TRUTH.
The politics and the policy questions are secondary to the death of our souls.
I urge all of us, me included, to read the Bible more, pray without ceasing, and worship in FELLOWSHIP with other Christ followers. Don't be an island.
God bless you all.
Ronald Reagan gave us Kennedy. Reagan wasn’t a RINO.
What have they done, NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING. All we have had is a lot of talk and no action. Once again today the idiots tell us they are going to do something in light of the USSC ruling but don't hold your breath.
The Republicans have two of the absolute worst leaders i have seen, McConnell and Boehner are despicable and have no shame, instead of stopping bad ideas and legislation, they cheer it on and pass it willingly. Both have abandoned their responsibilities and whatever principles they once had to the detriment of the country. Both Parties have become Morally and Ethically Corrupt and have sold us, the people, down the road to ruin. I may finally give up the concept of Voting in another Federal Election.
You have an anti-strategy. My plan gives us a chance to win.
Yours gives us a guaranteed loss.
We need two. One to offset Kennedy, and one to offset Roberts.
Abetting and advancing failure is for liberals, not Conservatives.
Many here see that now, some are still in the process, some are in denial, everyone sees the truth at their own pace.
Even Reagan sat a liberal judge.
Dude, I know what you are saying. My focus is on this single issue: SCOTUS.
MY guess is Ginsburg will quit during the next President’s term.
With a Republican in office, there is a 70% chance we will get a justice to join the four dissenters to overturn the wicked marriage decision.
With a Democrat in office, we have essentially 0% chance.
I haven’t watched any news since Obama was elected the first time. The country was finished. The US elected a skinny version of AL Sharpton to be President.
It’s just the downward spiral and death throes that we’re witnessing now and it’s not pretty.
Yes, but Roberts is young. I think Ginsburg, Breyer and Scalia are the top three due for retirement due to age.
The things is the court has been making a number of very left decisions. It turns out Roberts was the worst choice that could have been made by Bush.
I am not sure at this point it makes much difference.
The complete failure has been the Congress. it makes no difference what the Court does when the Congress has the complete authority and responsibility to make the laws and budgets , they have abrogated that responsibility and left it up to the court. Well the Court is lost as is any semblance of the following the Constitution or the Rule of Law.
Well, voting Republican could be a slower road to a totalitarian socialist state, but there is very little guarantee of that. And, frankly, it’s not likely to be a lot slower, either.
And what then, word_warrior_bob? What comes after the downward spiral and the death throes?
I’m weary of people saying that the nation is lost, America is gone and there is no hope. Like hell!
With all due respect, sir, we have not yet begun to fight. Along with millions of other veterans, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies forgein and domestic and there was no expiration date on that oath.
There is a silent army out here, watching all this crap go down. And they are furious.
RNC response to todays ruling:
In a message released immediately after the ruling, Reince Priebus mildly criticized the ruling while acknowledging its finality; struck a magnanimous note, confirming that the GOP [respects] those on the winning side of the case and remains committed to finding common ground.
A Libertarian talk show host, Jim Vicevich, on WTIC radio Hartford, CT this morning, mentioned that b/c of the SCOTUS decision, it should follow that if there are no longer any *states’ rights*....then all lawful gun owners should be able to carry in any state in the {former] Union; if states can’t ban gay marriages, then they can’t ban licensed gun owners to carry in their states
I like the sound of this. I hope this is eventually challenged. God help us all.
I hear you. I just don’t see the fight happening. I see a 24/7 propaganda machine and our voices stifled.
When I see states looking to secede or some other real push back maybe I’ll have some hope. As it stands I have none.
I know that sounds defeatist but if there comes a day to choose sides and fight rest assured I’ll be on your side.
Trying to keep this focused on the marriage issue.
The decision was 5 to 4 with four very strong dissents.
My point is another conservative (on this issue) justice and we can get this back to SCOTUS.
