Quickly responding to the Confederate Flag dustup that was caused by accused mass-murder Dylan Root's affinity for the banner, companies have swiftly responded, removing offensive merchandise and anything that might link them to the American Civil War. Walmart, Amazon, Sears, eBay stopped selling Confederate flag merchandise.
Apple corporation removed all Civil War themed games from it's "App" store. Sensing that the time was right, the History Channel has announced that it is pulling itself from the cable lineup because they produced a series called "Civil War: A Nation Divided." Honda has announced a recall of all Civics, because of the similarity in name to Civil, which some claim reminds them of the Civil War.
Two school textbook companies, Houghton-Mifflin-Harcourt and Scholastic, have come forward to announce that all chapters related to the American Civil War will be removed from elementary and college texts.
A major dictionary publisher, Merriam-Webster, has ordered a recall of all dictionaries it has published to remove the words "confederate", "civil", "war" and "south" since these words may offend some. It will no longer include these offensive words in future editions, a spokesthing confirmed.
CVS has announced that it will be changing its name, because the letters C, V, and S are found in the phrase "Civil War Southerners". "Better we err on the side of caution, then offend ONE PERSON," CVS's spokesthing stated.
In Jackson, Florida (a city that will soon be renamed) all Civil Litigation shall be named Non-Criminal Litigation, so as to avoid the word 'Civil'. This move is likely to be mimicked throughout the country, one legal analyst noted.
The American Society of Librarians has recommended that the letters C, V, L, F, D, W, E, A, S, T, and R be stricken from the alphabet, since they can be assembled into deadly assault phrases such as "Confederate" or "Civil War" or "Southern". When asked what we could use in their stead, the spokesthing for the Society remarked, "Russia has used Cyrillic letters to great effect for hundreds of years, and they never had a racist southern confederacy."
President Obama appeared at a press conference today, and, noting the recent corporate moves, stated "I want to thank the companies who have acted, for doing the right thing today. However, you are still not off the hook. We will be looking to you to do a lot more.... reparations and outright discrimination against whites is something we will be encouraging."
one of my co-workers heard on the radio this morning that the National Park Service has pulled all souveniers that display the Confederate Battle Flag from their shelves.
No more grey kepis for those 6 year old unreconstruted confederate boys to wear while running around the battlefield and trying to climb on the monuments.

I started to post the same exact words but I knew someone had to have said it already. I have not recognized this country for years now, I didn’t recognize it before November of 2008 and I damned sure don’t recognize it now. I don’t even recognize the planet any longer. I knew long ago that we were headed toward disaster but I did not realize it would be so absurd as to be like living in an insane asylum without a roof.
I was planning on starting a new business selling a newly engineered metal roof that will stand up to 500 mile per hour winds. My financial backing was to come from a guy named Dylann so naturally we were going to call it the Dylann Storm Roof. There goes my ticket to the one percent club.
RipSawyer, you used the word “absurd.” That is exactly what it is. In fact, I believe historians in a rational future will refer to this as the “Era of Absurdity.”
I hope you are right but I just turned 71, what chance is there that I will live long enough to see a rational future?

I was being facetious. I am glad they are still up though!
1. Agreed and probably by the end of the year if not sooner with the acception of those churches, priests, and reverends who toe the state line.
2. Agreed, but will proably be a cluster screw up on there part for a while, but the effect will be the same for us.
3. If the debt implosion happens as it seems we are at the end of kick the can down the road of “bright ideas”. September will most likely see the first really big shoe to drop that gets us to the 50% or more mark. Hell, we may be already there if you consider the number of 93 million no longer in the labor force. (undeclared side jobs to survive not withstanding)
4. Normal human behavior when people have zeal for power and power alone. Power Kills, and absolute power kills absolutely. Just have to see how long it takes them to begin this one. Probably not long, or with in your time frame or shortly after. But close enough at this point.
5. Seems beneath him given his narcissism and smug attitude of superiority. Going to have to think bigger. Dictator of the planet, Supreme and Grand Leader of all Nations (insert Free in here if you like to make it sound nice and grander phony ideal like North Korea does with its official title) and what ever long winded and nice sounding and yet phone title for a petty tyrant that you can come up with. Might actually be fun to try and come up with some.
6. Definitely possible, sadly. I know you like to be creative and humorous with the description and make fun of things as they are, but I really have a hard time seeing it here if you are trying given the cluster we are in. Russia and China would love nothing better than to test those multibillion dollar warheads(ironic that we paid for most of it) on there enemy just for the smug satisfaction of doing so. If we get distracted enough and we are heading full speed in that direction, it will happen.
No problem, a whole new opportunity has opened up and it should not be a problem for the politically correct. I am going to sell Tongue & Groove flooring. Once that is running smoothly we will add a line of back doors.
I have been watching reruns of Gunsmoke lately, do you think they will take that off the air, you know you can’t have a Marshall Matt D-word shooting people, especially not in Dodge City, you know the General Lee is a Dodge.

Awaiting Six Flags amusement park to get on board. They use the Stars and Bars flag but it’ll have to come down. Of course, they could replace it with a rainbow flag.
I haven’t recognized the America I grew up in for the past half dozen years.
Six Flags uses one of the other Confederate flags. Not the Stars and Bars.
