A New Jersey couple is suing the couple that sold them their $1.3 million dream house, along with the realtor and an unidentified alleged stalker dubbed "The Watcher," who they say forced them to flee by sending creepy letters.

The couple, whose names are being withheld out of concern for their safety, received the first of many messages just three days after they plunked down $1.3 million for their new home in the tony New Jersey borough of Westfield, according to their lawsuit, first reported by NJ.com.

"Why are you here? I will find out," read part of the first of “The Watcher’s” letters. "My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time."

Seriously, if this guy is leaving physical messages how hard can it be to find out who is doing it? Especially if you have the resources to buy a million dollar house.

As far as defending themselves, I am pretty sure NJ is one of those “duty to die” hell holes. Maybe if the family runs through all the red tape and makes the right donations the state will allow them to protect themselves.

Aside from a few bad apples (John List comes to mind), it’s a great town. However, it’s way too close to some very bad towns, and the trend is toward worse.
The taxes are astronomical. Public ed is awful. Guns aren’t available to the law-abiding.

You don’t know anything about me or where I live. I just happen to be proud of where I come from and don’t like to see people putting it down. That’s all; and I’m moving on now.

Westfield is a pretty snooty suburb on the Raritan Valley Line. Lots of money there, good place to live if you have a family and are a NYC executive.

Wait for him to put a letter in the mail box, Hold him up at gun point, force him to drink a crap-ton of vodka till he passes out, drive his car out to some remote country road and drive it off the road and into the ditch, put him behind the wheel, and dial 911 on his cell phone and make sure location services are turned on...

Theorhetorically Speaking of course...

How to pick-up a pricey piece of real estate for pennies on the dollar with just a pen and some postage stamps.

Remember that TV movie from the 1970s? Bad Ronald?

No, was it any good?

Why would anyone want to live in NJ anyway?

A lot of people. I believe New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the country.

Having recently moved to the NYC area, I have to vouch for what others are saying about it. It really is a great area to live (if you can afford the taxes).

People that knock it either don't know what they are talking about or they can't afford to live here and they are bitter about it.

I've lived in Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, California and Massachusetts. Now I live in Connecticut and it's the best place by far. Near perfect climate, tons of things to do, a great infrastructure and more restaurants in my neck of the woods alone for a lifetime of exploring.

A lot of people who don't know the area think it's all slums but that's far from the case. Yes, NYC metro has its slums and areas to avoid - as does New Jersey and Connecticut. But mostly it's upscale communities that are very safe. I live on three acres of Connecticut woods and despite being 50 miles from Times Square, you'd think you were in the middle of Maine. Only I'm 10-15 minutes away from civilization - when I want it.

Odd that this should creep someone out that someone is watching their house when the government watches everything else.

That creeps me out, too.

Exactly! I live in a quiet, conservative part of NJ. Most people who have never been here don’t think such places exist, but they are very wrong. And going forward we will continue to be what we are while the so-called “conservative” politicians in the red states continue to cave in and sell out.

“Why would anyone want to live in NJ anyway?”

Why do people embarrass themselves by asking dumb questions ??

If it were my family that he was "watching", it probably wouldn't take long for him to figure out that he should probably go bother somebody else.

“check out long island, makes nj look like a trailer park..
dont bother to tell me about peapak-gladstone, park ridge or saddle river... that’s chump change housing compared to the long island gold coast...”

Let’s be honest bud...Long Island ain’t no great shakes. Take away the Hamptons and the forks and you basically have traffic jams, low/middle class suburbs, an International Airport and a gay beach.
