We have the ammo but, most all Freepers lost their guns in boating accidents.
Yeah, you're right, and getting your family ready is great.
But there's one important fact that you're forgetting. Beyond the Constitution failing like it did in 1860, beyond the "United States of America" brand name that was bought out some time ago, beyond politicians and beyond systems and games, YOU LIVE HERE.
And let me tell you something, you have nowhere to go.
Do you think the Italians are going to welcome you? The Australians? The Canadians? Chinese? Russians? Costa Ricans? When you get there, you'll see, that they are all just subsidiaries of our great global brand name, the best global brand name there is. You know whose elections they follow most? Ours. And worse, you won't belong there. You'll stick out like a sore thumb. No matter how welcoming they are to begin with, you will never stop being a foreigner there, an outlander, and your descendants will share the same stigma.
So buck up, kiddo, and accept the fact that we're all in this together. Elections may not matter, but words do matter. Truth matters. And the truth is that you're a man tied to a piece of earth, and tied to a bunch of people you may not like. And if you try to do it all on your own, you're going to fail.
I know places where these wonderful underground lakes exist. Your property, your water rights. You can run the pump on solar.
Not a solution. Prior to the 17th Amendment, there were also problems with Senators and corruption. Think New York's Tammany Hall, California's U.S. Senator George Hearst, and the Senators involved in the Crédit Mobilier scandal.
Do you think the state legislatures would pick anything better than the current batch of cretins? If so, on what basis other than crony capitalism (and the occasional bribe)?
restore federalism and watch.
Easier said as a slogan than done. Repeal of the 17th Amendment is an inadequate solution. Even if it were a step in the right direction (debatable given pre-17th Amendment history), it's simply not enough to restore federalism.
This brings us full circle to the original issue I raised. Multiple amendments would be required to restore federalism. Yet a government that shreds the Constitution today certainly isn't going to obey new amendments to it that divest power from fedgov and the Uniparty.
Awesome post! Truer words were never said.
“Your abusive behavior drives down contributions”.
OH Lawdy Lawdy, The Almighty Dollah Has Spoken!
“If only we had dreams as big as his and the nerve to ask people to pay for them”!
Oh YES LAWD!

Oh now I see-he’s the yard dog for J Robinson for blog pimpers! Personally, I think this individual has gone off his rails here and like it’s said “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”.
My best to you, Sir. I feel the same way, but have prayer in my stead.
The Good:
This thread has inspired some excellent posts. I encourage everyone to read through this thread, there is some good stuff here, both serious and humorous, both agreeing with the OP and critical of him.
The Bad:
You decision not to vote. You should always vote. Don’t like the 2 main choices? Vote 3rd party. But don’t let the communists take away your vote.
The Ugly:
“All the big talkers will eventually give up their first and second amendment rights with hardly a whimper.” That’s an extremely ugly thing to say. Speak for yourself; don’t lump the rest of us into some imaginary category of defeat, despair and dishonor. I’m not in that category and you do NOT speak for me.
<>Do you think the state legislatures would pick anything better than the current batch of cretins?<>
Good grief, you don't understand the nature of representation or separation of powers. Whom the senators represent is what is important. Today's senate is an awful democratic redundancy featuring extend six year terms for added electoral protection.
Every republic prior to ours featured, by definition, participation of the people either directly or through some form of representation. The law acted on the people, and the people were present in the legislative body. Perfect sense.
The American republic was different, for the constitution acts not only on the people, but the states as well.
In order to remain consistent with republican theory and experience, the states MUST have a seat at the legislative table if the government is to constitutionally act on them. To remain consistent with fundamental republicanism, every clause in the constitution which dealt with the states should have been repealed upon ratification of the 17th. Now that of course couldn't be done because the states, people and the government they created are thoroughly intertwined in their duties and powers.
In short, the 17th denied the consent of the governed and is just as ridiculous had an amendment removed the consent of the people instead. Participation of the states is essential to the smooth operation of our republic and cannot be removed without causing internal contradictions which must lead to dissolution or tyranny.
BTTT (old school)
They win only when you give up. But not until.
Good point.
“Gruber”
How irritating to see such an arrogant individual refer to American citizens as stupid.
But, considering that most Democrats operate on how their intestines feel, he might be right on the mark. (If Communist rhetoric feels good, put it into practice.)
IMHO
I understand.
The system was broke pre-17th Amendment. See the examples in my last post.
The 17th Amendment was a bad solution to the problem. I believe we agree on that.
Here's the point you're missing.
The problems that existed prior to the 17th Amendment will exist again with its repeal. There is no factual basis to assume that Senators will be prosecuted for corruption either at the federal or state level. There is no reason to believe that Senators would in fact represent the interests of their states. Instead, they would represent the crony capitalists who persuaded the state legislatures to put them in office or represent their own personal interests if independently wealthy (e.g. former Sen. George Hearst).
As far as the crony capitalism, let's take Sen. Harry Reid as an example. It doesn't matter whether Nevada's sheeple vote for him or the state legislature sends him to D.C. He's still bought and paid for by certain groups in Las Vegas that do not reflect the interests of the state or its citizens. Understand that the interests who have bought and paid for Harry Reid have the same clout with the state legislature to get him into office or a similar corrupt post turtle.
Another example on the independently wealthy front is former Sen. Jack Danforth. An heir of the Ralston-Purina fortune, he was answerable to no one unless he wanted to be. There was the economic means to win statewide elections in Missouri and enough clout to easily persuade the Missouri legislature to send him to D.C. if the 17th Amendment didn't exist.
The answer is not merely the repeal of the 17th Amendment. The key is the exercise of the 10th Amendment with a refusal to defer to unconstitutional laws, executive orders, regulations, and rulings by the 9 black-robed clowns that sit on SCOTUS. In essence, it is time for the state governments to flat out reject any power asserted by fedgov that isn't expressly in the black letter of the Constitution. And to secede if fedgov does not back down.
Why would you go onto a cancer survivors thread and call for my husband, a military vet, to be denied care while I’m getting cancer treatment, and then carry your grudge over to this thread?
Explain yourself, troll.
I suspect Gunner is a big softie at heart. Don't assume everybody dislikes him.
Plus, he's really funny, and that goes a long way, don't you think?
I have not been on the receiving end of funny by HG. Only ridicule, slander, harassment and homosexual vulgarity. None of which I find in the least awesome.
It is true that I take a dim view of obsessively posting every word
from a single author, kissing his butt and fawning over him.
Dancing letters ain’t helping either.
Hey, we’ve all got out little peccadillos.
More homosexual imagery. You are fixated.
