While I have a handful or more favorites, I am curious who my fellow freepers elevate to the top of their list?
My list starts with;
Annie Lennox
Kate Bush
Tracey Thorn (Everything but the Girl)
And oddly enough
Cindi Lauper
There's soo many more.
Dolly Parton is right up there.

Dolly Parton is good. Very early Streisand. Dusty Springfield.
Off topic but Mark Levin just played Ray Charles’ wonderful version of “America.” Always sends chills up my arms!

For someone (like me) who enjoys the old standards, you can’t beat Jo Stafford. The best, by far. And I came across her by accident; I was doing a Doris Day search, and Jo Stafford came up as associated artist.

Even though she’s notorious for being kind of an A-hole to her band and staff I’ve always really liked the smooth jazz style of Sade. Also, always liked the blusey voice of Amy Winehouse.
