President Obama is pressing forward with regulations to diversify wealthy neighborhoods – and critics of the idea haven’t been shy, calling out the idea as ridiculous and an irrational way of advancing the White House’s own vision of a utopian society.
The rules, coming from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, could withhold block grants to communities if they don’t build enough so-called affordable housing in wealthy neighborhoods, the Hill reported.

These exclusive rich neighborhoods should be diversified 50% Rich and 50% dirt poor to start. Then we should talk about the rest of the country.
I know that in NJ the was/is some sort of “affordable” housing mandate, where EVERY municipality (in theory) had to have in place a plan to provide “affordable” housing. I believe it was a cap and trade type deal where more upscale communities were just being extorted. Everyone knows that there is no such thing as affordable housing in NJ...rent is outrageous mostly because property taxes are outrageous.
WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY too much money in these neighborhoods to allow such nonsense. It will never happen.
Government will force people to live in certain neighborhoods now?
The SOBs tried putting a 52 unit “affordable housing” complex in my neighborhood. The whole neighborhood showed up at a neighborhood meeting to stop it. It was stopped. for now.
agree and want to add that this was never about getting diversified housing into wealthy areas. Wealthy areas will turn down block grants and get along just fine.
This is about pitting neighbor against neighbor in the middle and lower middle class. Folks who are robbed by taxes and need some of that money back into their communities.
One more sector of the race war that the administration is ramping up.

Well said. In my area and outlying suburb is 30-45 min. away from job centers. These areas boomed until gasoline hit $3/gallon then went into a flat line stall. The 2009 crash pushed them over the edge and foreclosures were much higher farther out than close in.
Now there are lots of cheap rentals 30-45 minutes out.
Keep a CONSTANT watch. They will try to sneak it in again I guarantee it. Can you vote out the idiot who proposed this? Recall?

It was actually an individual attempting to create this housing complex. he owned the property. It felt a lot like he was blackmailing the neighborhood to get a better price for his real estate.

Haha, These people are all for diversity and the downtrodden - until it affects Their neighborhoods. I love it! In fact, I think obama and his marxist wife should set an example when they leave office (if they do) and build row houses right next to where they retire. Preferable, some of his “sons” and their families could be the occupants. Yep, let his daughters have to face what other kids do in their neighborhoods. These elitist, hypocritical, snobs deserve this.
