Flaming Hawk With Snake in Its Talons Sparks Fire Near La Jolla
NBC Bay Area ^ | Tuesday, Jun 9, 2015 | R. Stickney

Posted on 06/09/2015 5:58:35 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line

A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.

San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.

Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.

Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.

Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.

"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.

There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.

This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

I went to get my shoes, and Jake waylaid me and made me go to bed with him.

I was thinking of falling asleep, but then I sneezed, and he got irritated and left.

My A/C has already kicked on this morning. *sigh*

Now, I definitely want a beer... But it will have to wait til Monday.

I turned the a/c on about 6:45, when I had the first hot flash after getting up.

I’m still having one or two of those a week, but in addition, the night sweats have increased in volume of moisture and episodes.

GAH!

My eyes re pretty itchy today, too. They dry out so bad with Sicca Syndrome (loss of moisture in all mucous membranes) that it’s hard to keep them moisturized.

I just had two breathing treatments; one for the breathlessness and one of the steroid, as it’s been a few days since I used one.

You can change the search engine.

A Web page I’m looking at says Opera supports a plug-in to run Java.

but I’m a little less hot!

No, you're still hot, but if you lose the twitch you'll be a little less inviting.

;)

I’m getting pretty confused by all this stuff, now, and no, it’s not your fault. I just get overwhelmed when I can’t find or do what someone says should be fairly simple to do.

And under other circumstances, it would be. I will muddle though this, one way or another.

Great Basic looks cool. The others look hot. It’s only 89 here today, but quite humid.

I have a lot of days like that, and some days, it’s really hard to find and correct the errors. *sigh*

Let’s hope your day improves. It’s probably very frustrating for you, with your typing skills.

I think the lack of caffeine is affecting me, even though I had some diet cola (in aid of staying awake). However, the experiment regarding the eyelid twitch can’t tell me anything unless I leave off the cola, too!

I’ve found that eyelid twitches usually come when I’m stressed about something obscure...meaning that I can’t put my finger on the problem. But the good thing is that they go away on their own, after a day or two.

Worrying about the tics only makes them stick around.

My stomach is killing me. No bananas and no honey and no milk. I shouldn’t have eaten. This is going to be another bad day, and tomorrow will not be much better. I’ve been using baking soda to settle the stomach, but it makes me retain water. Which makes my BP go up.

I will just try not to eat until pill time and hope the low-blood sugar episodes are not too severe.

I don’t know what version of FF you are using but nothing on mine matches up with what you suggested I do.

I'm using FF 39.

Your FF - does it have the display with the three line box in the upper right or does it have a menu across the top (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help).

If you have that display you're somewhere about FF version 25ish.. If so, the Add-On menu will be in Tools.. And to check your FF version, click Help, then 'About firefox'. (doing that may download the newest version - will depend on your settings.)

If you have the newer interface with that three line box in the upper right, clicking that should give you the box I mentioned with the various option thingies - New Window, Save Page, Print, History, Find, Options, Add-ons, etc. In the border at the bottom should be the question mark..

There are three lines, but it has, New Window, New Private Window, Save Page, Print, History, Full Screen, Find, Options, Add-Ons, Developer. OK...question mark.

What was the middle thing?
