The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
I slept 11 hours. I that’s a record for me. Well, no, as I seem to remember a 14 hour stint, once upon a while ago, but usually I can get by with eight to ten. (Before CFIDS, my max was seven hours.)
Since I got up, I’ve been debating whether to go wash sheets, work on the Will and start the Living Trust, or file some more papers, now that I have the drawers ready. At least I don’t have to buy the hanging file folders.
I used the last of the milk this morning. That makes me sad. I need it when I eat my little pizza or the burrito for lunch.
I’m thinking I’m never going to like this computer.
Not a happy kitteh! LOL! :o]
I just refreshed FF, and I did download Opera, but was still a little rattled by my birthday present, so I wasn’t able to do much with it. It was on my list of things to do today.
Today, after 11 hours’ sleep, I feel like I might be able to comprehend new things.
Stay away from the word for the day.
Just sayin'.
I never like any computer. I have miscellaneous church business to accomplish today. Eventually I’ll go to Walmart, too.
“No! Please, Br’er Fox! Don’ t’row me in dat briar patch!”
It's a dangerous feeling.
Welp, Opera uses Goober for their search engine, and it doesn’t support Java which I need for Pogo.com so I can check my brem powers every day. *sigh*
I have no idea what to use and do now. Maybe I just need to install Linux and wade through it as best I can. :o[
I have no idea what you just said. The children are all screaming.
Except Bill, who is still in bed.
I would give you a hug if I were there, and tell you it was all going to work out, because it will, you know. At any rate, consider yourself hugged and remember, that things could always be worse: Kathleen and Frank could each have a twin.
How is Anoreth, and what is the news with her latest adventure in the USCG?
That does put things into perspective! They seem to have sorted out the fight over Lego, for now.
Bill says Anoreth is still looking for a permanent place to live. There is a Woof! issue. The base probably has a housing-aid office, but I don't know if she's checked with them.
I would have checked first thing about available quarters on base. I hope she finds something suitable for both her and Dog.
Last night, I was reading a book called “Cosega Search,” and was almost to the end when the fleeing heroes met up with someone who was going to help them, at the risk of his own life. He had a dog named, “Deeohjee.” When asked how to spell it, he said, “D-O-G.”
I’m still laughing!
Deeohjee.
Coming soon to a class roster near you.
She didn’t want to live on base - no dogs, for one thing. Dog is staying with someone while Anoreth seeks lodging.
Ah. I didn’t know about the no-dog rule, but I should have thought about it, being a military wife for as long as I was.
It’s overcast today, and that’s always physically, mentally and emotionally depressing for me. SAD at work. I doubt I could live in Puget Sound ever again, as there are so few sunny days.
Maybe I need some coffee.
I decided to skip coffee for a few days to see if the twitch in my eyelid would go away. It hasn’t worked yet, but I’m a little less hot!
Frank says he’s going to defend us against Communists when he’s an adult.
Good for Frank.
Coffee is strange. I can drink it and if I want, I can lie down and take a nap. It’s probably the CFIDS at work. Everything has changed because of it.
I still haven’t gotten dressed. I mean, why should I? No place to go, for sure.
The last time I bought creamer, I found one of GS Thin Mint Cookie flavor. It’s really not to bad. I prefer chocolate, but they were out at the time. And I can never find it in the big bottles.
Doesn’t keep me from sleeping, either, unless I have a lot.
Bill got up finally.
I’ve had coffee, and emptied the shredder basket, printed out a new pill list (I had to add a pill and make revisions) and need to go take a breathing treatment.
I’m stressing early for it being close to payday. Usually, I only do that on the first, unless payday falls on the first, but it’s not until Monday, and I’m already jittery. I hate that. Mentally, the thought keeps hitting me, “Will I make it this time?” Not good.
