Flaming Hawk With Snake in Its Talons Sparks Fire Near La Jolla
NBC Bay Area ^ | Tuesday, Jun 9, 2015 | R. Stickney

Posted on 06/09/2015 5:58:35 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line

A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.

San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.

Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.

Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.

Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.

"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.

There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.

This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

No, the best headline would be:

Bill and Hillary sentenced to share same 6 x 9 cell on Alcatraz.

Fry a couple and invite your neighbor to dinner.

Too late. Wish I’d known that then.

Something to share with any son-in-law I might get.

I should freeze some after they have been well and truly killed, and tell her they came from our common wall.

She is an aide for other people, but I won’t go into her house because it stinks. GAH!

Well now DFU, there's an idea. And since The Rock is now a national park, The Billary's could provide meaningful entertainment for the sight-seers... ;-)

Shouldn't be too hard to include them in the tour. Just make sure they stay in that same cell together for the remainder of their natural life. (Would be one way to ensure fulfillment of those pesky marriage vows.. ;-)

It IS survivable. But for the interim period absolutely NOTHING you do is right.

For either of them...

The battery in my pedometer died today, and I thought for sure it was going to be good for longer than three months. I can get it for $5.95 at the jewelry store, but they only accept cash for batteries. There isn’t enough for me to get it from the ATM, so I will have to forego the pedometer for a while. It has been a good tool, and since the crystal in my watch shattered, the pedometer has doubled as my watch.

I’m not quite so depressed today, but I’ve been awake since 0340, and I’m really hoping I can sleep tonight.

While I was out schmoozing with some of the neighbors, one of them (inflated ego for sure) who lives in the apartment I moved out of three years ago (four in November) decided I should allow her to give my back a massage, as she saw me get up a little stiffly. She was almost insistent on it, and finally, as I was leaving, I told her that I have had spinal arthritis since I was 14, that I have had spinal surgery, and that no one could touch my back unless that person was licensed and bonded. But thanks for the offer.

She and I have had a few differences because she seems to think she is the answer to everything and everyone... She is SUCH a $h!t!

LOL! Oops! Sorry.

I never experienced PMS or even much menopause, so as much as I would like to, I can’t relate to either condition. I was so doubled over with pain from the former that I had to be taken home from school, and the latter only gave me gray hairs.

And my own observance of both conditions is that they are over-rated. (Sorry, Gals...)

LOL..

Maybe YOU only got gray hairs but on this end I got attitude. And emotion. And more-than-usual illogic. And... ;-)

It IS survivable. But for the interim period absolutely NOTHING you do is right.

I have a wife and raised a son and 2 daughter. Nothing I have done has been right since December 1981 EXCEPT for brief periods of the day between when my son was born and when he turned 13. It wasn't actually right, but my wife held her tongue when my son was around. Once he noticed nothing I did was right she gave up holding her tongue.

When Justice Kennedy sayd gays should be allowed to marry so they can be happy I LAUGHED!!!!!

The local drug stores handle those specialty batteries now that Radio Shack has gone tango uniform.

You have to take care of yourself even if it means being a little rude.

20 more minutes of my movie. I think a lot of people are going to die.

The jewelry store I go to has ALL the batteries anyone could want, but I so seldom carry cash that I almost have to make an appointment! I have a silver necklace that I need to have a larger “lobster claw” clasp put on, because with peripheral neuropathy, I can’t feel the small clasp, and I have several pendants I want to wear.

The neuropathy is a gift from CFIDS...

The person in question is a busybody, and wants to “help” people so they can owe her at some point in the future. I had her pegged when I first met her, and as time goes by, I see my original assessment was/is correct: She is Trouble!

I had no idea that Radio Shack had gone Tango Uniform! One of my brothers introduced me to RS back in the 60’s and it has been my go-to store for electronics ever since.

But I guess Best Buy and Fry’s Electronics have pretty much squeezed them out. How sad.

You spelled "Azkaban" wrong.
