As bad as the situation would have been had McCain been elected — it would still be leagues better the terrible damage that Obama has done.

Not much would change on the global scale because he’s honestly not that different (look how often he votes along Obie’s lines). But the Dems would have massive majorities in both houses, and 2016 would be won by a Dem where as the GOP will probably win next year.
Though he said he would have bombed Iran... I kind of doubt it. I doubt we’d be as deep as we are now, but I’m certain there would have been some serious erosion of personal liberties.
On the plus side, maybe he would have had a stroke mid-way through his first temper, you know, or blew out a vein in his neck and died instantly and Sara Palin would have to take over.

Understanding McCain’s pathology, as I think I do, he certainly would have offered
B-HO a position as Attorney General (as so the ‘black fellow’ wouldn’t feel so badly.... Er, so they BOTH wouldn’t feel so badly).
We’d be at war with two dozen countries.
Amnesty would have been officially passed. He would have appointed 2 justices right of the wise Latina and the dyke (but left of Kennedy).
Iraq would be in much more decent shape now though.
I agree, except that I think if McCain had won in 2008, Obama would have won in 2012 and the democrats would have had huge majorities in both houses beginning in 2010.
A McCain presidency would likely have been a repeat of Bush 41’s term. McCain would have turned off conservatives from the get-go by staffing his administration with liberals and then “reaching across the aisle” to Democrats to enact a slew of liberal programs. He might even have enacted Obamacare—only it would have been called Romneycare.
In 2010, voters would have shown their disgust by electing more Democrats, as they did in 1990 after President Bush broke his tax pledge, and in 2012, the GOP would have been thoroughly routed, leaving left-liberal Democrats in firm control of the White House and both houses of Congress.
There would be *even more* McCain bashing, including hundred of threads claiming Obama would have been a better president, because he’d have only been in office one term and ushered in the next Reagan.
SNL would have had someone employed for 8 years doing a crappy McCain impersonation.
