After last weeks shocking admission that hed molested his sisters as a teenager, former 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar has put his parents in quite a pickle.
While Josh has (deservedly) received plenty of backlash from his admission, his parents have also come under heavy scrutiny for how they have handled the situation.
.....
However, its worth noting where Jim Bob, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2002, actually stands on the issue of incest and rape or at least what he told the public while he was running for office.
According to Gawker, who was able grab a screen shot of Duggars old campaign website via web cache, Duggar had this to say about the taboo subject:
rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.

He did? I can’t get inside the fellow’s head. But there is still a difference between a minor and an adult; even the Bible puts a difference.
If you’re saying that he should have done jail time, I won’t disagree with that either.
Hardly surprising. Hypocrisy and opportunism go hand in glove. It’s about the money.
Depends on what kind of punishment you’re seeking. It’s not unimaginable that he could have been tried as an adult, to be sure.
This whole thing stinks. He is not charged. He’s sent to so called “treatment”. His sisters and not sent to counseling not taken to the hospital after parents learned of incest. Police report quietly hushed up. He got away with this. All his parents wanted was money from TLC and that stupid show. Did not care about his sisters just make this all “go away”. You will never convince me otherwise.
I just can’t wait till those Duggar girls grow up and write the “tell all” book like the Jessup girls did from the FLDS Cult.
He darn well knew or else he would not have been sneaking around and doing it to them while they slept. Yes other times he did it while they awake but at first it was while they were sleeping. He did not want to get caught and they scream.
Well, since it’s out in the open, he didn’t absolutely get away with it. The court of public opinion is having its say, and there is more to come.
Of course, the left and their “alternate lifestyle” useful idiots also have their broad brush out, ready for “homeschooling is bad because the Duggars” et cetera ad nauseam.
“he knew what he was doing was wrong”
Of course he did just like murder or stealing etc.
However the ability to grasp the amount of harm you are doing to another is not all the way there yet.
I don’t support the death penalty for children, nor is it biblical. Death penalty is for ADULTS, and we can debate what an adult is, but it certainly is not a 12 year old.
Neither. A family with a troubled teen.
Going through the criminal justice system would have resulted in a son with a criminal record, daughters subjected to reliving molestation at a trial and CPS disrupting the family with no guarantee of any more punishment than Josh ended up receiving (counseling while in juvenile detention as opposed to counseling while being sent away for three months to remodel homes).
There are plenty of parents that would have done the same thing.
I am not getting Lewinsky.
Molestation is not incest. No matter how you cut it. Was it sexual molestation? Yes. No kidding.
Is it wrong?
Yes.
Has this and more been a forever factor in countless lives worldwide between children and teens?
Yes.
And it has been dealt with.
So my ultimate question is: So what?
This drama is out of the Alinsky playbook.
Hang your opposition on their own rules.
Using Soviet tactics of turning sex abuse into a totem that brings out unthinking visceral reactions.
Sexual abuse allegations are the tar babies of our time.
A 14-year old rarely goes to prison even for murder.
Just who is accused of rape or incest here.....both have VERY SPECIFIC definitions.
There is juvenile detention, though.
Of course, it is. Meanwhile, the media barely cared that Lena Dunham did the same thing to her one-year old sister and showed no remorse for having done so.
How long do you think he would have gotten in juvenile detention. I doubt he would have gotten more than a few months. Is that worth putting his sisters through the horror of a trial and allowing CPS to disrupt their lives?
“If youre saying that he should have done jail time, I wont disagree with that either.”
That is exactly what I’m saying. He should also be put on the sex offender registry.
Of course, it is. Meanwhile, the media barely cared that Lena Dunham did the same thing to her one-year old sister and showed no remorse for having done so.
____________
This is why it is media hyped bull that brings out the drama queens.
“I doubt he would have gotten more than a few months. Is that worth putting his sisters through the horror of a trial and allowing CPS to disrupt their lives? “
Those boys in Stubenville, ohio got two years for raping that girl.
Yes CPS should have come in because their parents did not think much of those girls to get them counseling.
Lena Dunham did not have religious nutjob parents telling her that it’s the victims fault if she’s raped/molested.
No she just had nutjob parents who thought that was cute.
I’m not too familiar with any of this, but it seems they are saying it wasn’t “rape” rape.
