A swimmer trying cross a wildlife-area pond while holding a large rock drowned Monday in Oroville.
California Highway Patrol officers said Austin Harr of Gridley was celebrating his 21st birthday with a swim at the dredger ponds when he sank below the surface about 5 p.m.

An excerpt was scarcely necessary as the article itself was a total about about 60 words - saying absolutely nothing except some dude drowned on his 21st birthday by trying to cross a river while carrying a rock.
So much more to know, so little information provided.
Such is the sorry state of "journalism" these days.
