The water spirits will take your life. I don’t care how good of a swimmer you think you are. My brother has shown me several pictures with water droplets in the picture of water scenes he has taken, most of them have a face. There have been several people drowned near me recently. A two year old kid made his way to a remote pond and an older man 57 years old at a local lake. Be careful all.

Do they mean a real rock (from the earth) or a rock of crack cocaine?

LOL! I knew there was a logical explanation...

And he didn’t think to let go of the rock? Was it his gf?

Duane Johnson. That did it.

The water spirits will take your life.

Yeah, that's what happened.

I doubt he forgot to drop the rock, most likely he was trying to bring the rock back to prove he had done whatever feat he was attempting. I am sure once he got into trouble he dropped the rock but it may have been too late.

Not knowing enough about the facts, since this is just a sensational headline with no real details in the story, that’s my guess.

Also glad to see the general respect for the dead and humanity posted here. Sigh.

There is very little pity for rank stupidity leading to death. The "here, hold ma beer and watch this" crowd often needs thinning.

Amen. I played this “game” all the time and its just by luck that my lungs did not give out after I had dropped the rock and broke for surface. Sometimes it took longer then I thought to get there

The types of drowning:

Even a tiny bit of water in your lungs can lead to drowning hours later. I had “drown proofing” training as a young Marine, but still respect the water.
