Eight years ago, Alice gave a thorough and detailed account of events that are nearly identical to those outlined in the police report that became public this week:

On the subject of Josh's parents Jim Bob, 49 and Michelle, 48, Alice wrote "They have lied and lied about their son to protect him... In my eyes he is a CHILD MOLESTOR. HE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE HOME."

I’ll shock you by saying that attempts at relational amends could have stood to have been made by the family.
They became overly rigid by means of legalism, and it is mildly amusing to me that those who are coming down on them the hardest are also very legalistic minded.
If anything, this shows what happens to grace when legalism impinges.

Playing it into a hopeless scene disregards the actual genuine true love of God which every person is responsible for addressing himself or herself, however much others may assist.

The victims needed to be protected and anyone that came in contact with the offender also.
A “redacted” police report with Mom/Dad’s name, the number of victims (4 girls out of 5 in the family. The Duggars only had 5 girls at the time 2002, 2003, plus cousin Amy over).
Not too hard for everyone to know whom the victims are. This “redacted” police report did NOT protect the victims.
Without the family being public figures, the victims might have had their privacy protected.
