But the curriculum he developed is still in place.
To begin with, the lessons seem to remove blame from the perpetrator and instead shift it onto the victim, as well as the parents. In one example, where a boy molests his younger sisters, the sisters are condemned for dressing immodestly, and the parents are also shamed for exposing the boy to temptation through the act of having him change his sisters diapers.
Modesty was a factor. It was not at the level it should have been in my family. It was not uncommon for my younger siblings to come out of their baths naked or with a towel. They would often run around the house for the next twenty minutes until my mom or sister got around to dressing them. Changing my younger sisters diapers when they were really young may not have been a big thing, but it really did not have to be that way[ ] My younger sisters used to wear dresses often, but as they were young and not aware of modesty, they did not behave in them as they should.
Mom did not push the modesty unless we were in public, and Dad only had the opportunity to mention it during weekends. Little people do not realize their nakedness right away [My mother] explained to me that she had no idea how visual male sexuality is, compared to women who are mainly by touch. I am so grateful my parents have changed so much of this area in our home.
A different lifestyle, with more modesty, might have prevented what happened.

I’m sorry this kid sounds like a real pervert. He’s sexually excited by seeing tiny little kids naked and changing diapers? That’s just not normal.
Just shut up. My baptist youth pastor made passes at my brother!!! Not kidding! My brother came and told me about it, he said “that man is faggot”.
I think I would want to know, has this kid done anything like that since? Did everything happen when he was 14 or 15, then he shaped up after that? We just don’t know.
I’ve heard that they are “Independent Baptists”, which is a denomination I’m not familiar with. But I assume it is not the same as the Southern Baptist Convention.
What I was attempting to say is NOBODY KNOWS what happens in other people’s homes and I was referring to anything and everything. Some people appear to be perfect in front of a camera and when the cameras are off, they are throwing ashtrays at each other.
I am not despicable.
I said the argument was despicable. Not you. My apologies for the misunderstanding.
No problem. Was not sure if I was clear either.
The total amount of pedophilia + ephebophilia in the Catholic Clergy amounts to less than 2 percent comparable to the rate among married men. This was the research finding of Pennsylvania State University Prof. Philip Jenkins, eminent religion and history scholar (and a non-Catholic ) whos studied the churchs abuse problems for 20 years.
Jenkins said there has been no formal study comparing denominations for rates of child abuse. However, insurers have been assessing the risks since they began offering riders on liability policies in the 1980s. Two of the largest insurers report no higher risks in covering Catholic churches than Protestant denominations (Jenkins, Pedophiles and Priests).
Let me make a point about media distortion: you may be aware that a recent survey showed that most Americans wrongly "guestimate" that the percentage of homosexual/lesbians in the population is 20%, when really it's more like >2%. That's because of highly biased media coverage of (or even, fabrications of) gay-theme stories, whether on the news or in entertainment (TV dramas and sitcoms, etc.) Similarly, you seem to think that the percentage of priest-molesters is around 50%, when actually it' less than 2%, comparable to that of married men.
This may be related to some people's motivation in tirelessly trumpeting every allegation, proven or unproven, made about Catholic clergy, while maintaining a tight-lipped silence about every other category of clergy offender, or even professions which have a far, far higher rate of abuse, including athletic coaches, recreation directors, youth counselors, and public school teachers.
“Just shut up.”
Just to be clear, before you respond, I am NOT the person you posted the above to.
But I suggest before you post an article on a topic which has already proven to generate lots of heated debate on a conservative public forum, that you brace yourself for the possibility that people may post things that you may not like or agree with.
Telling people to shut up on a public forum that is not yours is poor form at best, especially when it is in a thread you started.
If you only want to hear from people who agree with you all of the time, you may need to start your own blog.
Bill Gothard. ATI and IBYC
Independent Baptists. Fundamentalists in the worst sense of the word. Also into the patriarchy movement, which has its own set of abuses.
The[y] only qualify for membership in a Sex Offender Registry.
“AMEN SISTER!”
Just to clarify, so you believe the entire family should be on a sex offender registry?
Well, if there is one thing they know at Penn State....
Those who sexually molested and the adults who knew about the molestation and did nothing to stop the molestation should be on the offender list.
“Just to clarify, so you believe the entire family should be on a sex offender registry?”
Don’t be stupid, you know we mean Josh.
as for him and his parents...they should be horsewhipped.
I believe the parents should be on the registry.
They delayed any treatment for months, always allowed the boy back into the home, and what “treatment” he got was at the hands of another accused child molester.
Oh, and the police officer they eventually took him to to give him a talking to? A child pornographer.
The adults in the family sure do know a lot of pedophiles, don’t they?
They downplayed their son’s crimes, got him inadequate therapy, and have only issued statements in his support, not the children he harmed.
It’s all good. They’re forgiven.
Praise the LORD!
There is a wide range of practice among the various Baptist denominations and congregations.
Even if juveniles were on record it would only be until they were 18. Josh would have had to be convicted in a court of law of a sexual crime as an adult to be on a sex offender registry. And even many judges aren’t giving it to first time offenders, although the publicity this case is getting makes any legality sort of a moot issue.
There is an Independent Baptist denomination but I believe the Duggars aren’t affiliated with any denomination.
