But the curriculum he developed is still in place.
To begin with, the lessons seem to remove blame from the perpetrator and instead shift it onto the victim, as well as the parents. In one example, where a boy molests his younger sisters, the sisters are condemned for dressing immodestly, and the parents are also shamed for exposing the boy to temptation through the act of having him change his sisters diapers.
Modesty was a factor. It was not at the level it should have been in my family. It was not uncommon for my younger siblings to come out of their baths naked or with a towel. They would often run around the house for the next twenty minutes until my mom or sister got around to dressing them. Changing my younger sisters diapers when they were really young may not have been a big thing, but it really did not have to be that way[ ] My younger sisters used to wear dresses often, but as they were young and not aware of modesty, they did not behave in them as they should.
Mom did not push the modesty unless we were in public, and Dad only had the opportunity to mention it during weekends. Little people do not realize their nakedness right away [My mother] explained to me that she had no idea how visual male sexuality is, compared to women who are mainly by touch. I am so grateful my parents have changed so much of this area in our home.
A different lifestyle, with more modesty, might have prevented what happened.

I can go for that solution.
Am I correct in assuming these people are mormans?
No, they are not Mormons.
They certainly qualify for membership on the number of kids alone.
They are achieving the exact opposite effect with their hypersexualized focus on kids and isolating them inside the family. I do not want to blame his parents unnecessarily, but I don’t think this is wise.
They are fundamentalist Protestant and in some movement called Quiverfull.
Read more about it here:

The only qualify for membership in a Sex Offender Registry.

I so agree. I also don’t like the Duggar’s parenting style. They would have a baby, baby after baby and teach the older kids to look after the younger kids. That is NOT being a parent. Because while they thought Josh was “looking after” his younger siblings he was helping himself sexually to them. By the time the parents found out it was too late, why? Because they were not parenting.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing for older kids to look out for younger one, I’m just saying parents still need to parent ALL their kids. Know what I mean?
“The only qualify for membership in a Sex Offender Registry.”
AMEN SISTER!
No, they are basically Baptists.
Them and like half the Catholic priests out there!
That is some sick crap they are into. I just thought they were sort of odd and a novelty, but this Gothard connection is troubling to say the least.
I, too, feel that the job of the parents is to care for their own children and not put another child in charge of the younger ones.
They are portrayed as this role model for large and homeschooling families. When the cameras are off, nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors.
They’re neither Mormons nor true Baptists. They follow the cult-like teachings of Bill Gothard, himself accused of sexually molesting 34 young girls.
True. Of course, nobody knows what goes on behind your closed doors either, right?
“.. they are basically Baptists...”
I am just asking this because I know several Baptists families who don’t: disallow their girls further education (i.e. college/trade school). They also allow their daughters to go unescorted in public without a slew of other females or a male sibling. Although the Baptist families I know are strict in dating.. they don’t disallow it without a sibling escort. I’m not baiting or being rude.. I am just saying the Baptist families I know don’t really compare to the Duggar Family with a great deal.
That is correct.
The last thing I would want to do is parade my family in front of cameras.
That argument against you (what goes on behind your closed doors) is despicable.
There are some web resources that talk about what goes on in households that practice those teachings. It isn’t pretty. The dynamic is setup for bad things to happen.
