They are achieving the exact opposite effect with their hypersexualized focus on kids and isolating them inside the family. I do not want to blame his parents unnecessarily, but I don’t think this is wise.

The thing about the Dugger family and their (the followers of Bill Gothard) beliefs, IMO, is that they put such an extreme focus on, IMO an unnatural and unrealistic mode of modesty and a form of extreme chastity one hand – their rules of “courtship” do not allow even a simple kiss on the cheek live alone a kiss on the lips before marriage.

IIRC, Josh Dugger and his wife didn’t have their very first kiss until the end of their wedding ceremony (which of course was filmed for their TV show of course – their “modesty” notwithstanding / s)

Or are even allowed to share a hug unless something called a “side hug” and or allowed to hold hands until they are engaged and even then only under close adult or older sibling supervision, during a “courtship” which has to be arranged and approved by the family(s) BTW.

The girls must also wear below length dresses and must never bare their shoulders, and are forbidden to extend their education past their home school high school level and as I understand, the girl’s later education focuses mainly on the “home arts”, she is not expected to nor allowed to have a career outside of being a wife and mother to a big brood of kids, and even the guys are not to wear shorts and they won’t even go to a swimming pool or beach out of their concern over being in or even seeing any immodest dress.

But then on the other hand, once married they are expected to have a child as quickly as possible and as many children as possible and in very quick succession – one right after another. In other words – have SEX and lots of it. SEX, SEX, SEX, SEX,….

I can see why a child brought up in the that environment, when he is old enough to understand that reason his parents have “19 Kids And Counting” is because his parents are having lots and lots of SEX, but is then taught that even holding hands with a girl on a date is wrong and immoral, might end up being very sexually confused and frustrated.

Add to that a philosophy that says that if he is tempted and acts on that temptation, it is probably because it is the girl’s fault for tempting him by her “immodesty”, including that of his 4 year old sister.

That is some pretty sick stuff in my book.

I wonder how many of the folks with an axe to grind against the Duggars are women and men that have ruined their child bearing lives by prolonged birth control, selfish endeavors, and/or putting everything ahead of their family resulting in alienation from their children.

I would never excuse what Josh did, however everyone seems to have moved on successfully except a few bitter little people like Oprah Winfrey. Josh even admitted it drove him to Christ Jesus. The bitter ones on this website (whose lives we cannot examine to reveal their hypocrisy) do not understand redemption. Perhaps that is the problem. Jesus Christ came to save sinners, not the righteous, because there are no righteous.

You could say it like this Pubescent Josh explored differences between sexes with at least five pubescent girls. Girls go into puberty before boys.

Josh feel uncomfortable changing a baby girls diaper and I understand it right away. Baby defecates and sits on it and fecal matter gets shoved into every crevasse and if he doesn’t do a good job the baby suffers and mom is pissed.
