There's probably a few threads already but I've been here 14 years and rarely post vanities. So indulge me.
I've got about $1600 +/-$200 to spend. I certainly don't need to spend it all.
I want a good semi-auto rifle.
What to get?
Currently, I have a Maverick 88 12 gauge shotgun. I have a .45 1911. I have some Smith and Wesson Glock copy in .40 cal that a buddy needed money for. I have a Ruger 10-22. I have a Winchester 30-30.
I'm missing something. A semi-auto rifle.
Lately, I've been a strong proponent of something in .308/7.62 NATO and leaning towards a DS Arms FAL or a PTR-91. However, nothing beats a Kalashnikov. And AR-15s are the most popular rifle in the world.
What say you all on this Saturday night?
Oh, I wish!
That’s the ticket: knockdown power.
SEAL crack shot Chris Kyle says in his book that head shots and snipers are a fallacy.
Even a shooter of his (clearing throat) caliber shot for CBM: `center of body mass’.
It’s tough enough to place a shot where you want it with your rifle on a rest, much less from your shoulder and the target is moving, think `Dawn of the Dead’ sprinting zombies.
So no less than 7.62.
Still the finest Battle Rifle available.
$1,400. New barrel and stock.
Yeah, and then maybe they’ll get “stolen” and he won’t be targeted when the time comes.
Are you channeling Daryl?
S&W has a new little AR15 M&P 15 Sport. Price at our gunshop $599. The reviews on it are great. I’m selling my Bulgarian AK74 and getting one. Check it out.
I sold all my tools to do some home repair work ... didn’t get the name of the guy who took it all at bargain prices.
You already own the ultimate semi auto for the ZA. It’s the 10-22 of course. LOL
One thing about the keltec sub: left handed shooters will find the spray of powder from a discharging cartridge out the ejection port to be bothersome. That’s why I sold mine. Other wise it had many good features.
550 bucks at Walmart. Thanks for the post.
I am adding that to the boat.
I love it for home defense- a 410 won’t take out a structural wall the way a 12 gauge might
I didn’t even know this rifle was available. Shooting a slug and then a 45 on rotation sounds like to much fun.
I made the mistake...well may have been a mistake of purchasing a Weatherby .300 mag. Helluva rifle. Damn cartridges look like ICBM’s.
Problem with this rifle is the ammo. Cannot chamber anything but Weatherby .300 mag....hard to find. $60 bucks a box unless you happen to find Hornedy “Wrby .300” ammo. That’ll run ya round $45. for a 20 count.
I wonder what a gunsmith might charge for putting a barrel for a different cartridge on that rifle. There are probably even some barrel shops with websites.
And I never seem to have trouble finding 410 ammo
when the zombie Apocalypse comes I am hoping I am the only one with a 410 near my closest ammo supply
45 cal is also good to load up on- especially the home defense rounds
Get a katana, it works great for Michonne. It’s quiet and you’ll never run out of ammo........
