What book or fictional story would make a good movie?

Posted on 05/21/2015 8:30:11 PM PDT by MNDude

It seems like there's not many original ideas in Hollywood...how many remakes is there of Dracula or King Kong?

Yet, I'm sure there's got to be thousands of great books and stories that have never been made into a movie. Which fictional stories would you like to see as a movie?

And they shouldn’t have bothered.

Loved the book. The movie wasn’t horrible, just stupid.

Yes, it’s quite good. It used to show up on Late Shows when I was growing up. Jack Hawkins was particularly good in it.

“Ben Hur” is being remade.

I’d like to see a movie about Rayland Givens.

Term Limits by Vince Flynn would fit right in to today’s dialogue....

I thought “Idiocracy” was an attempt to do that.

I would like to see any of Ben Bova’s (6 time winner of Hugo Award) books.

Another favorite author is Stephen Lawhead. Not so much his early sci fi stuff, but his books like: Patrick Son of Ireland, Byzantium, and his Pendragon Cycle ( Taliesin, Merlin, Arthur, Pendragon, Grail) would make a wonderful TV series, he has Christian theme very subtly but well done, behind them all.

There are two series I would like to see. Julian May's Saga of Pliocene Exile and Roger Zelazny's Amber books.

Another two I thought of - “A Garden of Sand” and “Tattoo” both by Earl Thompson. Fantastic novels set in the Midwest depression era.

Carl Hiaassen has a set of books, some of which would make great flicks. “Lucky You” comes to mind.

He wrote “Striptease”

I entertained and laughed a whole lot in the Denver airport one day, waiting for six hours with other poor people. Golly, this book is funny.

Stephen King’s “The Talisman.”

I don’t know if it could even be done...it would take a lot of money and it would be long enough to require intermission. But, wow, if made right, I would be first in line.

Years ago I heard rumors it might happen, but so far, nothing.
