As I have written about previously, there were a total of 3,542 volcanic eruptions during the entire 20th century. When you divide that number by 100, that gives you an average of about 35 volcanic eruptions per year. So the number of volcanoes that are erupting right now is well above the 20th centurys average for an entire calendar year.
especially seems to be true of the Ring of Fire.
If you are not familiar with the Ring of Fire, just imagine a giant ring that runs around the outer perimeter of the Pacific Ocean. Approximately 90 percent of all earthquakes and approximately 75 percent of all volcanic eruptions occur within this area, and the entire west coast of North America is considered to be part of the Ring of Fire.
For so long, the west coast has been incredibly blessed not to have experienced a major seismic event. But scientists tell us that it is only a matter of time.
And right now, just about every other part of the Ring of Fire is shaking violently.
For example, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake just hit Japan on Wednesday

Current map of the world’s earthquakes.
It usually looks pretty much like this.
The current sunspot number is 126.

These graphs show how it tends to vary over time.
Now that is the standard for shakin. Are these volcanoes/earthquakes up to it?
The slow flipping of the Earth’s magnetic core and shifting of both plates and triggering of volcanoes is another potential cause of all this.
GIVEN WHAT IVE SEEN..yes indeed.
Gee - do these eruptions emit any gas into the atmosphere? Particulates?
(and Baker) :{)
Frackin’...I be sure it’s frackin’!!!!!!
CFCs caused that, and too many SUVs on one side of the world contributed to the imbalance. We need to take a lesson from Guam. It would not have tipped over and sunk if there were not so many people living on one side of the island and parking their big cars in one parking lot there at the Beach Mall.
Yoda’s wisdom he has not.
There was a Dr Who story called Inferno that dealt with drilling and disastrous consequences. Weak science but a good serial.
Niburu approacheth
The Earth prepares her magma in preparation for a big shake-up.. and I aint talking ObammyCare..
I heard it on George Snorey last night.. 8-o
My tomaties have never been greener.. of course, I only planted a few weeks ago.. but HEYYY!! They love their CO2.
The term you’re looking for is ‘lahar’.
The Puyallup, White, and Nisqually river valleys would be pretty much shot as well. Lots of people in the Puyallup valley.
The utter stupidity of environmentalists was banning the CFCs in asthma inhalers in the name of the ozone layer and environment, when one volcanic eruption puts out more sulfates and CO2 than all inhalers used all year.
I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down as the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.
Lahar is a volcanic mudflow. I saw a Nova program on what Rainier could do to Seattle. UGLY!
I thought that was last year!? Or the year before...
Both earthquakes and volcanic activity are indications of movement along plate margins. Maybe continental drift is picking up a little.
