Hi, dp;

DO NOT attempt any diet, without talking to your doctor. Everyone is different, and you need to have your personal situation assessed by a professional medical person, before you take on something as serious as dieting - especially if it’s going to be a long-term diet.

I’m not a nutritional expert. I’ve had success at various times with all kinds of diets; but again, everyone is different. You need to find a doc who knows your situation, understands the difficulties, and will watch over you.

If a doctor is just telling you to ‘lose weight’ and not directing you to any resources or information, find a new doctor.

The pounds will literally drip off.....you can eat anything you like in any quantity.

Just eliminate bread and all flour-based items from your diet.

Read “Nourishing Traditions” by Sally Fallon. Everything we are told by “experts” is wrong. It changed my life and she isn’t selling a product or system. It’s a cookbook that is much more than a cookbook.

I lost weight by eating mainly proteins and vegetables. I gave up pasta and substituted rice. I also got rid of most oils (including olive oil), but I still use butter.

I find eggs are an excellent source of protein. I made all kind of omelets. It’s also a good way to use up leftovers.

I posted on a previous cooking thread about the nutrition plan I'm following: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3277604/posts?page=45#45

It has 2 advantages. 1) It provides ALL the necessary nutrients, and 2) It's more food than most people can eat.

I'm not a doctor, I don't even play one on TV :) But, I'd be curious to see if that eating plan helps.
