Tom Brady will be suspended by Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement next week

Tom Brady will be the highest profile player ever suspended in the 96-year history of the NFL.

Roger Goodell's decision is expected to be announced next week and it is no longer a matter of if the NFL commissioner will suspend Brady, but for how long he will suspend him.

In conversations I've had with several key sources who always have a good sense of what goes on at 345 Park Avenue, there is little doubt Goodell considers Brady's role in DeflateGate a serious violation.

The NFL is convinced, according to sources, that connecting all the dots of the evidence supplied by Wells leads to one conclusion:

Brady cheated.

Yes, the NFL has an electronic device policy from 90 minutes before the game until after the game is over. Included is no texting the coach or sidelines.

Could you list all these other times the coaching staff cheated?

What about Paul Hornung?

Wow. Almost a pre-history reference. He apologized and suspension revoked. Doesn't really count.

He played 4 downs then the other QB played 4 downs, repeat, interrupt for 4 quarters etc... with same low pressure footballs didn’t they ...... ?

Same playing field, same equipment, same opportunity per my seat here on the WTF couch.... Don’t have a dog in the fight as I don’t watch political football .

There wasn’t a 20% difference! more like 7 and 8.9% could just be going from warm to cold environments. Ideal gas law - a 12.5 psi ball COULD deflate to 11.4 going from 72 F to 48F, the conditions of the day,

The lawyers almost get that right and many of the balls fell in that range, however some are too low for that.

NFL crime rate is much lower than that of the general public.

And, for however many weeks the suspension lasts, Brady will have to wear one of these nifty hats...

(Upon closer inspection, it does appear that these footballs probably could have used another puff or two of inflationary air in them before they tried to use them...)

The New England Patriots are probably feeling stupid for releasing Tim Tebow. He could have been the starting QB this coming season.

I have no dog in this fight, but cheating is cheating. Whether it be steroids, shaving points, referees being bought, modified bats, or whatever, cheating is cheating. It’s sad but society can try to excuse it away by “everyone does it”, “just getting the edge”, “just a little deviation”, etc.

Joking about deflating balls.

Given that the balls ended up deflated, there is no reason to believe the messages were joke.

Aaron Rodgers like his over inflated. Is Rodgers confessing to rule breaking in that preference?

Have the Packers every be caught over inflating footballs? Get back us to when they are. If they are, Rodgers's stated preferences would be quite relevant.

So, I am just going to assume that since you dodged my question by asking me another question that you know full well that Brady’s stating he prefers under inflated balls is not an admission to rule breaking.

A person stating that they prefer X does not mean that they are currently using X, nor does it mean that they are ordering others to provide them X.

It’s simply a statement of preference.

How do you know that the deflator was tasked with deflating the balls to a level that is below the rule threshold?

How do you know that the deflator was not tasked with getting them to the exact lowest possible level that does not break a rule?

How do you know that they were not joking about legal deflating with the approved range?

Cool.

It looks like the Colts were not prepared to game that day.

That happens to my team, the Saints, almost every single time they play ;/

There are certainly other possible ways for this to happen, I just don’t have any faith in the standard used for this investigation.

If that is the standard they want to use, then okay, but that doesn’t mean I have to have faith in it.

They haven’t proved their case in my eyes.

ONLY Brady benefits from this. Nobody else.

Why only the quarterback? I could see how running backs, receivers, and tight ends could also benefit from under inflated balls.
