You must LOVE your guns.
You must sleep with them and cuddle them and marry them.
If you do not, Bill Maher, you must surrender them.
Thank you in advance.
I am one of those people that loves (and respects) guns.
I love that guns have made it possible for the weak to be free from intimidation by the strong. No longer is might right.
I love that the industrial age has made it possible for even the poorest people to be able to afford portable and reliable self-protection that hand guns make possible.
I love that modern hand guns make it possible for someone with little to no training to be able to defend their own life against an assailant much larger and stronger than themselves.
There is much to love about guns and I do.
Clearly, I am a sick individual.
Shouldn't we be able to assume that Mr. Maher of course took the time and effort to become trained in the handling of the firearms he owns - i.e., that he has, indeed, come into contact with other gun-owners, and that he likewise regularly comes into contact with them when go goes to the firing range to maintain his skills?
Also: I don't understand his criteria for labelling an elevated interest in and even affection for firearms a "sickness." Aren't there people who also think that their, e.g., golf clubs are "awesome," who "go into Chipotle" with their pets, who "go on dates" with their piercings, or "take selfies" with their tractors?
What Mr. Maher is essentially saying is that he does not share such enthusiasms - and that they are thus ipso facto "sicknesses."
Regards,
I wouldn’t say I LOVE my guns, either. Words mean things, and loving an inanimate object doesn’t describe my sentiments towards any of my guns.
Besides, a couple of guns I’ve had turned out to be real pieces of crap.
There is little room in a heart filled with self-love for anything (or anyone) else. For the rest of us, we may enjoy the presence of our arms as we deem appropriate.
typical liberal Ahole...thinks he is really more important than he really is
what a pustule
this is typical Limousine Liberal Hypocrisy. Not everyone could afford gated mansion with guards, so we need our guns for protection
Maher is toilet minded. Does he think people love their toilets because they use them? Smh
When a wacko comes it will be one of his own doped out viewers.
So I have a lot of security measures at my house. If somebody gets into my bedroom, wow, they really did a lot to get there. —ask any fag like barak
If "commandos" do that, your little pea shooter isn't going to take them out. Especially if you don't go to the range on a regular basis.
I bet he bought his guns, put them in a drawer at home and hasn't touched them since.
I love guns in the sense they are equalizers and force multipliers.
I love guns in the sense that they strike fear in the hearts of wicked and evil men and women Bent to do harm to others.
I love guns in the sense they give the average person far more protection than the police could ever hope to do.
I love guns in the sense that other nations would not dare invade us because free men would make any attempt a pyrrhic victory at best for them.
I love guns in the sense we can fight big brother, if it becomes a grave necessity.
er, if you love your car or just feel you need one, is there an issue with that? Perhaps. The car lover may take care of it better and use and maintain it more carefully. Same, I assume for guns.
And I’d venture to say cars and car licenses are given to people a lot more easily than guns and used a lot more recklessly.
What a weak argument from Bill, the man who insults handicapped children .
Billy Boy is simply a prick extraordinare. Anything he says should not only be ignored but openly laughed at.
Too many mall ninjas walking around in 5.11 gear arguing about which obscure round is better than the other. Too many good 'ol boys talking about their collection like it was the second coming. Too much affinity for what is ostensibly a tool. I found it boring and cult-like.
YMMV.
At one time, I owned guns for hunting and recreation. Now that I’m older, I own them because I don’t know who the “good guys” are anymore.
Decades ago, I was threatened by union thugs who told me to obey or they would break my arms. They were bigger and stronger than me, and they outnumbered me. I obeyed even though the union thugs were in the wrong. I hated that.
A few years later, I was attacked by street thugs who injured me to try to take my property from me. At that point, I was well-trained in unarmed combat. Even though they outnumbered me, they got hurt far worse than I did. I still got hurt though. I hated that.
Today I own firearms and make sure they are always accessible where legal, including but not limited to my home. That means any thugs who want to hurt me are betting their lives on the outcome. I love that.
Until God sends the right man or the right dog, I’m taking care of myself with the little machine that puts me on equal terms with a bad guy twice my size and twenty times my strength.
I’d call it friendship rather than love. You have a friend in PA: your gun!
