Pittsburgh did not have many of the racial problems that plagued other cities in the 60’s. [And I don’t see why it would have them now.] I won’t place much faith in the judgment of somebody who can’t even spell Pittsburgh.
My father, who was in the Pennsylvania National Guard, has a different recollection of Pittsburgh in the late 60’s. Especially in Pittsburgh’s Hill District.
I only moved to Pittsburgh in the early ‘90s, so I wasn’t around for the ‘68 turmoil (I was far too young, anyway), but I’ve heard from some “lifers” that they did have some problems in ‘68.
But I agree with you. The city is only about 25% black so things would have to be REALLY, REALLY bad for there to be Baltimore-type riots here.
