What are you gonna be grilling today?
I may be cooking some burgers.
What is the best way to cook a spotted owl on the grill??
I'll start with a spotted owl recipe.
Moo Goo Owl Gai Pan
3/4-1 lb Fresh if possible spotted owl 1 cup fresh button mushrooms 1/2 cup canned bamboo shoots, sliced 1/2 cup canned water chestnuts, sliced 1 slice ginger, finely chopped 1 clove garlic, minced
SAUCE 1 cup chicken stock 1-2 tablespoon oyster sauce 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1 tablespoon cornstarch
SEASONINGS 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry 1/8 teaspoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon cornstarch oil, for stir-frying
4-6 servings 1 hour 5 minutes 45 mins prep
Is Chilean SeaBass still endangered? How about shark fin soup
Great beef recipe!
Ginger flank steak marinade:
1-2 tbsp fresh ground Ginger
Zest and juice of 2 limes
3 tbsp veg. oil
2 tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
1/4 cup tamari or soy sauce
1 flank steak
Mix and let it marinate for at least 1 day. Grill med-high heat for about 8 or 9 minutes on each side. Let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before you slice it up.
A little off topic....but still a favorite Man Food
Cream of Bacon Soup
1 pound of slab bacon, cut into ½ inch cubes
1 pound of Swiss cheese, cubed
1 quart of coconut oil
1 pint of heavy cream
1-8 oz. Package cream cheese
sour cream
1 cup fat free bread crumbs
yolks of 2 eggs
½ pound butter
4 tbsp flour
Beat egg yolks till smooth, dip bacon and swiss cheese cubes in the egg yolk then
shake with bread crumbs. Heat the oil till it begins to smoke and deep fry the cubes
for 5 minutes till nice and crispy, remove from oil.
Meanwhile, heat the cream to the boiling point, melt the butter in a sauce pan
and sauté the flour till it begins to brown. Add the hot cream all at once and beat
with a whisk till smooth. Add the cream cheese, stirring all the while.
Add the browned cubes of cheese and bacon to the soup mixture and stir gently.
Serve generous portions topped with a dollop of sour cream and accompany with
hot buttered cheese biscuits.
I find that cooking a poke tenderloin to medium rare is rather toothsome.
I’m throwing a very nicely marbled NY strip on the Weber tonight.
If Justin Wilson were cooking that, he would marinate the plank in some red wine (after drinking a couple of quarts of it).
I grilled yesterday. Tomorrow I am smoking some ribs.
I generate a lot of CO2 and smoke!
Prepare by getting some good poblano peppers and roasting them preferably over coals, but in the gas broiler will work. Peel the skin away and set the peppers aside.
For appetizers, some JC Potter (For those not from around here, a local high-quality brand) patty-style sausage and cook some over coals to have as appetizers with cold beer, fresh jalapenos and some cheese and crackers, etc.
Get some fresh grinded-up cow meat - ground round or ground sirloin, or if you have a professional butcher shop that offers a high-quality "ground beef" made from real high-quality cuts of beef with maybe a bit more fat in it that works too. I generally eschew "ground beef" from the grocery store, though.
Make it into burger-size portions, about 1/3 pound. Throw it on the coals - nothing fancy going on here. Grill until done on one side, then the other. When it's running only juice and not red blood it's done.
Put one of those roasted poblanos on it with some sharp cheddar on top of the poblano.
If you were grilling some onions on the grill with those burgers those are optional too.
Grill some sesame seed buns on a skillet with either olive oil or butter, depending on your taste.
Construct a nice poblano cheeseburger with all of the above ingredients, or maybe two if you've had a vigorous day outdoors. Why not, it's earth day, right?
Serve with fries, angry mac (high quality macaroni and cheese with habanero and smoky cheddar cheese), and generous amounts of cold beer or cerveza with lime.
For dessert, strawberry shortcake with whipped cream or fresh cold watermelon.
Then watch a dvr'd installment of The Americans or Turn and then go to sleep.
That would be four or tree quarts! Mmhhhhh.
Who has that gif of the polar bears cooking in an old tire?
You eat carrion eaters?
My goodness...that sounds like a heart attack in a bowl.
It also sounds delicious.
A hiker, cooking a bald eagle on a small fir was found in the forest by a ranger and was promptly arrested.
His arraignment was a big media event with some news coverage. During the arraignment, the judge asked if he had anything to say.
The hiker said “Your honor, I got lost in the forest and was going on almost a week without solid food. I came across an injured Eagle and yes, I knew it was wrong, but I believed that the energy I could get from eating the eagle would save my life. I beg for the court’s mercy.”
The judge decided that all charges would be dropped. On the courthouse steps, a reporter asked the hiker just what does a bald eagle taste like.
The hiker replied “Oh, sort of a cross between a spotted owl and a Peregrine Falcon.”
Drum roll. I’m here every night at 7, two shows on Saturday, try the veal.
'I GUAR-RON-TEE THAT...'
Yep, that’s the one!
None. They prefer to remain in the dark.
