Not drinking enough water has same effect as drink driving

Having as few as five sips of water an hour while driving is equivalent to being over the drink drive limit.

Drivers make more than twice as many mistakes when they are just mildly dehydrated, according to new research.

The study revealed that drivers who had only had 25ml of water an hour made more than double the number of mistakes on the road than those who were hydrated - the same amount as those who have been drink driving.

I discovered this after finding that being hydrated kept me from having migraines. Breakfast for me is 40 - 50 oz total of OJ, milk and tea over about an hour. I feel fifteen years older when I wake up, and fifteen years younger, firing on all cylinders, after breakfast.

Yeah, chlorinated tap water isn’t that appealing. I drink OJ, milk, tea, and cranberry juice. I might throw in bottled water a few times a week.

I just had to bite the bullet on restroom trips, though, you’re right. Your body does adapt away from every half hour or so, but it’s still every hour or two.

No kidding. That writing is twisted and tortured. I can’t tell if the writer did it on purpose, or is just completely stupid.

I found the same results. When I was young, and assigned to Guam, I was awful at keeping myself hydrated. I had some many frequest headaches and migranes I thought I had a tumor. Eventually, I ended up taking a series of medicines that only made me feel like a zombie (no headaches, cause I was sleeping, face down on my typwriter!) Finally, I took the advice of my doctor, after lying to him repeatedly by telling him I drank plenty of fluids, and I made it a point to stay hydrated. The migranes went away. That was about 30 years ago. I do get the occasional headache, but I can almost always see the connection with poor hydration prior to the pain. Hydration works.

Ive never read anything quite AS “twisted and tortured.

Perhaps the author wrote it in one language and the editor or editors translated it using Google Translate...and published the results without doing any double checking?

I really skimp on liquids...except for coffee ,.which is of course a diuretic.

I may want to add more liquids.

I can see it all now.

Drivers wishing to stay hydrated on those long grueling daily commutes adopting the sort of water bottles used by bicyclists ...with the small hose and all

The real trick is timing. Finish a bottle of water before you need to fill it back up. Just dispose of properly, leaving it on the side of the road is just wrong.
