Kristen Lindsey, 31, of Brenham posted a photo holding up what she described as a dead feral tomcat shot in Austin County, but there are reports since that it was a neighborhood family pet named Tiger.
...
The photo has since been removed and her Facebook account canceled, although copies have widely circulated on the Internet. Her original post with the photo read: "My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted," KWTX-TV reported.
Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said deputies were investigating the incident and would be talking with prosecutors about the possibility of charges.
"This kind of stuff shouldn't happen in our society," Brandes said. "It's a very sad thing. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it and get the truth, 100 percent truth, and get it to the DA and put it in his hands if it needs to go any further."
Lindsey planned to meet with authorities next week, accompanied by an attorney, Houston TV station KTRK reported.

Killing homeless cats is common? Where are you from West Virginia mountains. You’re a heartless and so uniformed.
I hope you’re dog gets loose on her property. Such ignorance...heartless people in here. You probably hate kids walking on your lawn too.
Do people keep their dogs inside the house 24/7 or do they let them out and take them to parks to run, get fresh air and enjoy Gods land as they were intended to do....God gave them hunting skills and claws for a reason and it isn't to sit on window sill. I can't believe such ignorance.
Heartless and cruel. How do you sleep at night. Praying for Karma on you.
Oh really? What state are you in?
I hope you know that the stats on that were made up? The bird brained people pulled those numbers out of thei @$$ like a liberal does. Just say it and people will believe it. By the way, Birds carry over 60 diseases to your backyard. Yet, you don’t care about that?
2 dead mice, 1 dead cardinal, 1 dead wren on back porch in one week. Cats kill for fun. Evidently some vets do too :-)
Do you yell at neighbor kids when they walk on your lawn too? LOL What about birds that drop over 60 diseases to your yard?
This is a very conservative town, thank goodness.
“And HE said: Let US make man to OUR image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth.” ~ Genesis 1:26
I understand your concern. There weren’t that many cats and we were never cruel or mistreated them. But they could be mean and the little kids had to be watched out for.
My Dad had a friend who was a Game Warden. He gave us orphaned fawns and a few baby raccoons. We took good care of them until they were able to get out on their own.
And we were “environmentalists” in our own ways. The stupid tree huggers don’t realize that people who rely on the land and nature for their livelihood don’t ruin that land or abuse nature.
That said, if you let your cat wander un-tagged and un-collared across other people's property, you have to expect that someone might mistake it for a feral and act accordingly.
And while I don't usually engage in the common FR ritual...Regarding the lady in question...Ahem...Not guilty.
Should I have to put up with someone else’s animal pooping on my property where my dogs can eat it? Where I or my 3 year old can step in it? Or should I be able to enjoy my own property without having to constantly deal with those things?
That you think I should have to be inconveienced, have my dogs potentially getting worms from eating infected feces because of someone else being irresponsible is very telling. I have previously tried going the route of calling a local cat rescue to take some kittens whose mother was killed. They wouldn’t take them. Sometimes you have to take care of things yourself, whether you want to or not.
All she had to do was shoot and shut up. The buzzards and coyotes gotta’ eat too. I don’t like to see buzzards not eat well.
Not allowed huh. Yeah, sure.
Oh no, we have leash laws in FL. Fawn thinks they shouldn’t apply to cats. I keep my dogs fenced or on leash. Not everyone would appreciate my dogs on their property and I respect that.
My personal view is, an outdoor cat is an abandoned cat and is fair game no matter how you want to kill it within local/legal means.
This vet deserves a medal.
“But its very unfortunate if she mistook someones pet cat for a feral one.”
If the cat is off the owners property and does not have a visible collar, it is legally a target of opportunity.
Having said that, cat persons are crazy, and tend to mob attacks, therefore, shoot and shovel and shut up.
ho wants a bunch of crazies yammering and howling?
