Kristen Lindsey, 31, of Brenham posted a photo holding up what she described as a dead feral tomcat shot in Austin County, but there are reports since that it was a neighborhood family pet named Tiger.
...
The photo has since been removed and her Facebook account canceled, although copies have widely circulated on the Internet. Her original post with the photo read: "My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted," KWTX-TV reported.
Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said deputies were investigating the incident and would be talking with prosecutors about the possibility of charges.
"This kind of stuff shouldn't happen in our society," Brandes said. "It's a very sad thing. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it and get the truth, 100 percent truth, and get it to the DA and put it in his hands if it needs to go any further."
Lindsey planned to meet with authorities next week, accompanied by an attorney, Houston TV station KTRK reported.

So are humans.
Hardly a feral cat round this locale.. Took me a few years to catch and fix em.. Some I housed. A couple even adopted out to others.
Birds still poop on my walk tho. Damn birds.
I hear ya tho. We had a pile of siamese for awhile in our house. They loved turkey and chicken. All they ever hunted was a warm spot on the carpet or bed.
Humans aren't feral.

I understand.
We had to shoot some wild dogs now and then but not too often. Especially during calving.
No sympathy for this “vet.” I’ve rescued ferals and they can make good house pets. This was cruel, vicious, and utterly unnecessary. She should have her license stripped.
What kind of veterinarian cannot tell the difference between a well kept pet cat, and a feral cat?
But this one couldn’t, she claims, look at post 11.
Someone shot my last cat with a pellet gun and did $1,500 in damage to one of his elbows. I could afford to put that much money into a cat, and decided to keep him around for a few more years. I’m glad I did, but I did learn my lesson, too.
Initially I was mad that someone would attack a cat, but I realized that (odds are) he was on their property and we would not have had this experience had I kept the cat under my control rather than let him roam around.
Lesson learned. Current cats are indoors only ... and a lot less costly to maintain.
If some local government announces that there is a feral cat problem and they are going to cull that population, then fine, I know that’s done sometimes and I don’t have a problem with it.
But I am not going to take it upon myself to start exterminating cats. I don’t know which one may be a pet, and I don’t really want to kill them unless I have absolutely no other choice.
It doesn’t make me feel good to kill animals. I do think cat owners should keep their cats inside though.
I don’t know. Hard to say. How far away was it? How clearly could she see it? Was it out long enough to have its coat all messed up, rather than neat and tidy like in that video?
I’ve never shot feral cats, but some of them can be incredibly destructive to wildlife, and I know that my neighbors call on people to help keep them down.
Yep, she should have remembered the second and third S’s.
Some reason this venomous little witch with a DVM couldn’t have simply caught the cat and taken it to the pound for either recovery or adoption?
Shoot, Shovel and Shut the hell up!!
Not going to say I killed or would kill feral cats. As a cat owner (really like my cat....generally don’t like other people’s cats) and as a dog lover I like most dogs. I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone’s pet
But
I will remove unwanted dangerous or destructive ‘vermin’ from my property, quickly and as painlessly as possible. Then keep my mouth shut about it
It isn’t hard to say, a feral cat versus a well kept pet cat is almost impossible to confuse, if you are interested in seeing the difference.
It isn’t just their fur, it is the way they move and carry themselves, and how far away do you think she was to not be able to know what kind of cat she was killing, and with a bow?
I agree, feral cats are in our neighborhood and are messy, noisy and a nuisance. If you have a cat, please control them.
Clearly you haven’t experienced the joys of homeless people in your neighborhood.
