The Apple Watch is on fire: KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple's debut smartwatch has sold more than 2.3 million units since preorders opened, MacRumors reports.
Apple hasn't released any sales data on Apple Watch sales, and it most likely won't until the company's quarterly earnings report. But this 2.3 million figure echoes what others have estimated the research company Slice believes there were about 1 million US preorders on launch day, for example.
Ming-Chi Kuo has a good track record on Apple: He was spot on with his predictions about the iPhone 5S, for example. If Kuo's figures are correct, Apple has in a stroke cornered the entire smartwatch market.
The Apple Watch's strong sales are bad news for Google and its Android Wear smartwatch operating system OS. According to Canalys, devices using Android Wear sold 720,000 units in 2014. Slice's figures suggested Apple was able to easily breeze past this figure in a single day. In doing so, Apple took away Google's one historical advantage, which Business Insider explained in a previous story:
The iPhone has always with some truth been considered the "rich man's phone." Apple customers tend to be better off than Android users and spend more on apps and in-app purchases. Accordingly, ad rates on iOS, Apple's operating system, are higher than on Google's OS.
This strong push is immediately going to make Apple's Watch OS an extremely attractive platform for developers looking to move into wearables, especially when coupled with the purchasing power of Apple consumers. And as this app ecosystem develops, it will make the Apple Watch even more attractive compared with other smartwatches, consolidating Apple's position further still.

I’m game. I will cede the point that the Apple iWatch is not a watch but is instead the Apple nonIwatch. So it is instead the Apple iNailClipper or Apple iGarbageDisposal ?
Actually I buy the products and not the stock. BUT ... I do happen to know that there are quite a few FReepers who buy the stock.
Perhaps when Swordmaker pings the 700+ FReepers on his Apple Ping List ... you may hear from some of them.
Because you don't have enough money for me to betary God. Just that simple. If you want to promote queer organaztions you will pay the price.
It's all people can talk about at work and some co-workers are positively giddy over the prospects of wearing one as soon as next week. But unfortunately that is not going to happen because Apple is pushing back the store release date due to the tremendous amount of pre-orders it has already received.
They have already completely sold out their initial inventory and now they are going to have trouble meeting demand.
My prediction is that Apple is going to sell over a billion watches by 2020. With an average price of about $465 we are talking nearly a half trillion dollars of revenue here.
But by 2020, a half trillion will be small change for Apple. Billions and billiions and billions of iPhone, iPads, and other soon to be announced devices will be sold by then.
Apple will be a trillion dollar company in 2016 and a quadrillion dollar company by 2050.
Getting back to watches, I think many people are going to own as many as a half dozen Apple watches. You will want a elegant looking one for the workplace, a sports version for the weekends, a classy watch for special occasions like weddings and awards dinners, a durable one for working around the yard and garden, a waterproof one for the beach and finally, a casual one for the golf course or clubhouse.
It’s a wrist computer with over a thousand apps on it ... which happens to also show the time!
I’ve also got a desktop computer that shows the time and I know that’s not a watch! And my iPhone shows the time, and I also know that’s not a watch.
AND ... my iPad actually has some fancy watch faces ... but ... I don’t consider that a watch either. And, by the way, I’m typing on my “watch” ... ummm, no, I mean “iPad” ... right now ... LOL ...
You may have been taking my money all along ... :-) ... and you would never know.
so... what you’re saying is... the target market is the easily swayed lemmings chasing the latest fad in the hopes of filling the vapid pit that is their soul
gotcha
Sorry to disappoint but Apple has “SOLD” NOTHING yet , ZERO , NADA ... they haven’t delivered anything yet... Pre-Orders are nice but the sales haven’t been consummated with a delivery. For all we know they will have to be unwound/refunded or at least a refund offered. Lets face it the functionality isn’t there ,, it’ll be years before this is a worthwhile thing to have... a standalone unit that doesn’t simply piggyback on a smartphone... So IF Apple delivers you’ll have two devices with short life batteries failing at different times and needing recharging...
I’ll wait until the thing works on it’s own...
I would like to point out to people ... here ... that the Apple Watch can be used in those different settings that you describe by simply switching out the bands. You can have a sports band, or just an every-day one, and then a couple of fancy bands. The bands switch out very easily!
Maybe not. But the Lord Jesus Chirst forgives me if I did. You even sound like a satanist.
Yes, they HAVE SOLD all those units ... so those sales figures are CORRECT!
They haven’t been “delivered” yet. The MONEY has been paid and has been taken out of their credit cards. The money is all in Apple’s hands right now!
apple iwatch ... $465
classic casio ... $10
of course, the casio will function without a $500 smartphone in your pocket
Just wait. When initial sales sag, they will introduce the model with a 72 inch dial and a battery life of two months. The weight of 400 pounds might be a challenge for fanboys, but rap moguls will disregard this minor annoyance, since their offerings will be free. Rumor has it that future iWatches will have a whopping 300 inch dial and will weight only 0.002 grams. Wait for this one, those rumors of a 600 foot dial and weight of only 0.000002 nanograms are probably untrue.
Can I wear it in the pool?
At the rate Cook is going, they may be rolling out the iButtPlug next.
“They havent been delivered yet. The MONEY has been paid and has been taken out of their credit cards. The money is all in Apples hands right now!”
****************
So you agree the sales haven’t completed.
Don’t see contradiction actually.
The sale is completed. It’s not a deposit, but the full purchase price is taken. I do that very same thing with just about every product I buy online, including Apple.
I just bought something from Amazon today. They said it would be about ten days before delivery. I didn’t pay a deposit to Amazon today, but I paid the full purchase price. They got my money ... :-) ...
It’s the delivery that is not completed. Just about ALL my purchases are that way. You may not a be familiar with the new way people are buying things these days ... LOL ...
Well, at least I don’t belong to a cult group, or at least I don’t show people “cult material” on my page ... LOL ...
I don’t go around promoting this ... :-) ...

Murray teaches, Eve and Adam had sex with Satan; Satan being the fruit, the tree, and the snake, in that story. Eve got pregnant with Satan’s son and with Adam’s son. Cain and Abel were twins; but Cain was Satan’s son. (Tape #436)
