Employees say a Brandon Walmart near Valrico gave them little notice before closing for six months.
When I drove into the parking lot, it was full. I knew something was not right, said a Walmart employee who asked that News Channel 8 not identify him. We have had plumbing problems over the last few years.
The store closed Monday at 6 p.m. because of the ongoing plumbing issues. The employee News Channel 8 talked with said a sewage backup is the likely culprit.
The issues require extensive repairs, Walmart spokesman Amanda Hennenberg said in a statement. The store is located at 1208 E. Brandon Blvd.
Walmart will reopen the store as soon as all the plumbing issues are resolved, Hennenberg said. The closure affects 400 full and part-time employees. Some are being offered jobs at other stores. Others will receive paychecks for two months and then severance payments will kick in.
Design flaw. Several someones have quietly been told they should seek opportunities else where and a few others have been told they got their silver bullet.
Just a guess as I don't currently work for them but these things happen.
Someone told me today that these store closings are in the Jade Helm areas. Tin foil alert...I don’t know!!
Same excuse Hillary uses when she disappears on a bender.
LOL!
They probably use nearly identical plans for all stores built using a certain layout, i.e. 110-120k SF Super WalMart with garden center, 85k SF regular Walmart, etc for a period of time until change out equipment or layouts annd use those new plans from that point forward.
It is possible they had some major flaw in the plans or a specific contractor make a huge mistake. A 6 month closure implies they will probably be redoing the entire system, assuming the plumbing reason is accurate.
