Is evil not evil?
The only way to spread the good news is to go among those who don’t have it :)
In my resturant I have the right to refuse service if you have no shoes,no shirt, no God.
I am 80 and will protect my Christian values and don’t test me.
‘
This just sounds like getting onto the road of acceptance and submission to me. A cutesy way to sidestep standing up for your religious liberty. Just seems so cowardly and un-American.
This has to be fought head-on. Is faith to be subserviant to threats of fines, bankrupcies, and jail-time? Then it sure must be a weak faith.
I am definitely in the ‘If One owns a business, job 1 should be to make a profit and better your lot in life. Money is green, should not matter where it comes from’.
OTOH, it (should be) is none of the Governments business who I deal with etc...
Reminds me of the toy store owner who happened to be a Jewish Guy and his Family were vacationing in Florida for the month of February, getting away from the Cold NY winters.
While sitting there the son asked how they could afford such lavish vacations, for as long as he could remember.
“Dec 25 son, Dec 25”.
The son, a little more enlightened than Dad said “but that is Christmas Dad. We are Jewish. We don’t believe in Christmas. That is what you have been telling me for years”.
“That is right son. WE don’t believe in Christmas BUT that doesn’t stop the people that do from buying their toys and presents in MY STORE”.
The gays would sue the caterer for inciting “hate speech” if they showed up with crosses and religious messages.
We need to be more understanding. They say it’s almost impossible to find a wedding planner, florist, or baker who is gay/
Really? Because I can see it as another way for queers to target a business, flood the business with no profit work. How long can someone stay in business?
Not really.
You’re still giving up your values by PARTICIPATING, promoting, and endorsing a hoax.
Are there ATHEIST photographers who’d be sickened by 2 men kissing?
Ping
accept all business from gays
No businesses are saying they don’t want to sell anything to homosexuals. What they are saying is that they don’t want to be forced to be part of their sinful lifestyle.
If you sell a cupcake to a homosexual you just sold someone a cupcake. If you make a “wedding” cake for a homosexual “wedding” you have become in a small way, a part of the lifestyle. You had to put two grooms on the cake. This is considered offensive to many people, while selling the cupcake is not. Likewise, if you are a photographer and are required to photo a homosexual “wedding” you have become part of it & I’d hate to think of all the offensive things you would be required to photograph.
Simply put, these businesses are not hanging up signs in the door saying no homosexuals, they just don’t want to be dragged into the lifestyle.
According to some, seeking an alternative to public crucification indicates impure thought. For them, a simple question: what course do you currently counsel as a response? For those who call it unwise to "lobby" for religious freedom: what course do you propose? In case it slipped by your awareness, governments have said you can't object to providing a service on any grounds, much less religious.
Sodomactivists have created a no-lose situation for themselves...which leaves a no-win situation for believing businesspeople. To those who decry the impurity of any course but signing over the title to your home and mailing the signature card for your checking account to the lawyer... What's your alternative?
This is political jujitsu and it will work, brilliantly.
Actually...that just might work.Tell the pervs that their $$$ will go straight to the Koch Brothers’ Super PAC...”Aborting Gay Fetuses”.
This is what I’ve been saying since this whole thing blew up. Just advise the customer your staff will show up at the event in uniforms with a Bible verse on them. Also have verses on the delivery van. Have the staff say “God bless you” to to the event patrons when they are spoken to. Somehow I think these “customers” will choose a different caterer.
Using principles of Aikido and passive/aggressive behavior to good cultural effect.
Back somewhere in my posting history I have posts putting forth this same idea of assigning the proceeds of a homosexual wedding cake to promoting traditional marriage.
I think that the idea is subject to discrimination laws, because homosexual cakes are singled out. Don’t know, it’s a legal question, and I’m not an attorney.
The easy workaround, however, is to donate a fixed amount from all wedding cakes to those causes.
Here is to kicker; Encourage matching funds from non-business sources, friends, churches, customers for cakes of their choosing.
Business contributes $10 per cake (let’s say), others match it at 10:1, or some amount of their own choosing.
Suddenly, thousands of dollars are raised, the community is involved, and, as nearly as I can determine, no laws are broken.
Nice bit of sophistry, but it reeks of surrender- sort of like the difference between taking a running jump into the boxcar as opposed to being forced into it.
No.
Now is not the time to be clever, to parse words, to give in but not really.
Now is the time to draw the line, Because if we do not do it now the first amendment is lost.
I have heard people who don't understand what the first is about say that "it does not say you have the right to own or run a business" when that is exactly what it does say.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
That mean the government may NOT refuse to let you operate your business in accordance with your religious beliefs.
They may not deny you the right to have a business license, own property, vote or anything else just because of your religion.
This is because in Europe they did exactly that. If you were not the official religion you could not own property, you could not own a business, or attend a university, or hold public office or a thousand other things. THAT is why the first amendment is there. Not to say you have to keep your religion under wraps but to say you may boldly proclaim it without being subject to such restrictions.
Stand your ground now or give it up entirely.
Thwarting the So Gay Nanny State PING!
And a general PING as well.
It strikes me that this is a civil matter as we don’t live in a theocracy. There is a state’s interest in allowing and encouraging arrangements that produce future citizens and keep the accounting reasonably straight regarding who is related to who. We’ve all grown pretty silly indeed if we forget this basic fact.
We are to some degree modeled on Rome, and while it appears there were gay marriages, it also appears they didn’t go down the road of political correctness. No my friend, if a Roman was butt hurt you can bet there were bruises to show for it.
Whether or not we play soup nazi with baked goods is not a Christian thing really, it is a Libertarian thing, but there are too few of them around to hope to prevail fighting their own battles. They do seem to have a very high opinion of themselves, however, and so it is no wonder if they try to use as dupes people they regard as superstitious. Being a Christian, I am far too used to this drill :(
