Apple will fail in their watch. History is not on their side. Casio failed. Citizen failed. Microsoft failed. All wearable computers failed.

Accept and move on. Deny the evil gay leader in his quest. He will fail.

Why do a few FUD recap reviews that cherry pick the negative comments from generally GLOWING reviews grab the headlines instead of the positive reviews? The construction of FUD reviews from GLOWING Positive REVIEWS, especially for Apple products — PING!

Apple FUD Review construction Ping!

I’m not anti-Apple, but I don’t see the need for a smart watch. They are simply nice to have’s.

I am not an Apple fanboy. But I must admit the Apple Watch is already a smash success, based on preorders. It’s better than I expected, and I will likely grab one to parallel our Android watch app development. It will just get better with time. Apple is the richest company in the world.

I think it's really hard to have an objective review of the Apple Watch because it's a product so unlike everything else Apple has done. And it's only in the first stages of its development--as new generations of better batteries using dry-electrode lithium-ion technology arrive over the next few years, expect far longer battery life per charge--possibly three to four times what is now possible.

The topic is product reviews suck.....not sucking up or bashing the Apple Watch.

Reviews suck for the same reason political commentary sucks.....either the author has an agenda (for or against the product) or the author is an uneducated boob who is not really qualified to conduct an honest review.

There is a different time and place to talk about the larger implications of how Apple Watch will or won't change the world. A product review isn't necessary the right place to go into theories about technology or nit-pick on why turning on all notifications results in too many notifications being sent. People are going to buy Apple Watch if it looks cool. The review should try to help answer that question.

Maybe they should have given the watches to people in the fashion industry to review, instead of the tech industry.

Reviews, schmeviews. The real story is that information technology has, by some curious instinct of the people who develop it, gone from being in a room by itself to your office to your desktop to your shirt pocket and now to your hand.

The human race seems to be driven to unite itself to this technology. Of the many fascinating things pointed out by McLuhan a half century ago, man's projection of his reproductive (sexual) instinct to technology is the most jarring.

Apple doesn’t really have to sell a lot of these for them to be a success in Apple’s eyes - but maybe not everyone’s. Like others have already stated, you have to have an iPhone already to use with it (I think). Apple is a lot about elitism, i.e., “I have one - you don’t!” “I can afford this. You can’t.” It’s not their primary goal but they have largely been a boutique type organization. Apple makes products for Apple. If only the very rich buy them (which doesn’t include me) they will consider that a success. Personally, I can see a lot of people opting for this. It will be priced “just out of reach” for most of us - and that’s part of the point. If iPhones were $100 and iWatches were $50, I might get one. I can see where they would be convenient. I hate having to dig out my phone from my pocket - especially while driving. My wife is notorious for leaving her phone in her purse and then hitting panic mode when she gets a call and can’t get to it in time. But at the current prices - all that is simply out of reach - plus the creepiness of its sinister uses.

“when the actual reviews are all POSITIVE. “

No they’re not.

For anyone who cares, they can read the various reviews for themselves, as well as reader comments to those reviews:

I think what a lot of people are missing here is that this device will make it possible for you to somewhat safely send and receive messages while driving. Chances are, the police are not going to pull you over and ticket you just for wearing a watch, as they likely would if they saw your handling a smartphone.

Just by looking at your hand on the steering wheel, you are going to be able to watch the stream of incoming data and I presume Bluetooth will be used to accept your verbal commands as input.

Probably still not 100% safe but definitely less conspicuous.
