Chris Wallace should probably stick to grilling Republican presidential candidates.
Somehow, during a radio interview with conservative host Mike Gallagher on Friday, the Fox News Sunday host got pulled into a discussion about former American Idol star Kelly Clarksons weight. The two men were discussing Little Caesars bacon-wrapped crust pizza when Gallagher brought up fat shaming.
Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Gallagher asked Wallace. Holy cow, did she blow up.
At first, it seemed that Wallace was going to avoid joining in on this bizarre line of questioning, saying he thinks Clarkson has got a lovely voice. But then, he let this comment slip: She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.
Listen to audio below, via The Mike Gallagher Show:
Coincidentally, Clarkson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, where she spoke out about her struggles with weight issues after giving birth to her first daughter last June.
I think what hurts my feelings for people is that Ill have a meet and greet after the show and a girl whos like bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, Wow, if they think youre big I must be so fat to them, Clarkson told Ellen DeGeneres. And its like, youre just who you are. We are who we are whatever size. And it doesnt mean that were gonna be that forever.
Sometimes Im more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore, she added. And then sometimes I dont and Im like
Id rather have wine.
We all could! :) ... Really, I didn’t mean any offense by the comment. It would be the same if someone quickly lost a great deal of weight or had cosmetic surgery or started lifting and suddenly bulked up. It’s just a surprising transformation to see in such a short period of time, is all.
“Wonder how her husband feels about this?”
I’m guessing he’s crushed...
Well put.
With what is being learned about the way hormones and also gut bugs determine what you eat and whether the food is told to become part of your reserves, we should realize that for some (not all) being fat is hardly their fault.
Sexist hate speech.
Why does FOX hate women?
And, of course, every single woman in the world has your exact metabolic rate, right?
She has talent and it doesn't come from the lard on her butt, it comes out of her mouth.
If we still lived in the radio era, I submit there might be 10 or 12 people that would be aware of her weight gain.
Like someone up thread said...she's a singer, not a model.
Now, if her politics turn too far left, then I'll reconsider.
All I can think of now is that Andrew Dice Clay routine....'I've got fudge!"
Yes!! Thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking. I am sick of the plastic surgery types, the twigs, and of course those Kardashians! Kelly is who she is and at least she does not go around flaunting herself all over the world with implants and provocative clothing!
Even if she has, we don’t know all there is to know about her. My mom was so skinny pre-wedding and pre-babies, a size 5. As soon as she had kids, no more! She became at least a size 14-16! She was too busy raising us kids, cleaning and cooking to go to the gym everyday.
This is real life, not Hollywood fantasy where they can afford to get tummy tucks.
Meanwhile, in France, models who are "too skinny" may soon be banned from modeling on the catwalks of Paris. This is known as thin-shaming, or just flat-out repression, but will be framed as feminist and liberating.
Looks like Mama Cass.
I believe that every single person has their own unique characteristics, including metabolic rate-one size does not fit all, which is why the same diet won’t work for everyone.
That is why I believe fresh, unprocessed food is best-it is easier to adjust portions and such to your individual metabolism-a little less of this, a little more of that, etc, because there is no sucrose, corn starch, corn syrup, etc added to it. I’ve never cared for sweets, eat almost no carbs and go heavy on the protein and fresh green veggies-my job requires physical work, and the protein provides plenty of energy. But my paleo-type diet might not work for someone with a desk job, unless they ate less meat.
Pregnancy still isn’t a reason for being overweight-a nutritionist can help a woman with a healthy diet for her individual metabolism.
She'd better stay away from the ham sandwiches.
Oh, please! Does anyone remember the abuse Bristol Palin took having gained a lot of weight after giving birth, and retaining that weight for some time. Yet, in her recent engagement pix she’s quite slim.
Motherhood is hard on a body, especially when the mother is working. Clarkson has a very demanding job. In time, she can and probably will lose the weight.
Got in trouble w/Mrs. Springman when I said her baby had a big head on People mag cover. Very cute baby, very large head however.
.
She’s lookin’ good on the right!
(Is that really her?)
.
.
She’s probably way healthier than you...
