Chris Wallace should probably stick to grilling Republican presidential candidates.
Somehow, during a radio interview with conservative host Mike Gallagher on Friday, the Fox News Sunday host got pulled into a discussion about former American Idol star Kelly Clarksons weight. The two men were discussing Little Caesars bacon-wrapped crust pizza when Gallagher brought up fat shaming.
Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Gallagher asked Wallace. Holy cow, did she blow up.
At first, it seemed that Wallace was going to avoid joining in on this bizarre line of questioning, saying he thinks Clarkson has got a lovely voice. But then, he let this comment slip: She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.
Listen to audio below, via The Mike Gallagher Show:
Coincidentally, Clarkson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, where she spoke out about her struggles with weight issues after giving birth to her first daughter last June.
I think what hurts my feelings for people is that Ill have a meet and greet after the show and a girl whos like bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, Wow, if they think youre big I must be so fat to them, Clarkson told Ellen DeGeneres. And its like, youre just who you are. We are who we are whatever size. And it doesnt mean that were gonna be that forever.
Sometimes Im more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore, she added. And then sometimes I dont and Im like
Id rather have wine.
Who? Guilty of being a pig—Gallagher AND Wallace.
Kelly Clarkson is NOT GUILTY.
I doubt Kelly Clarkson is eating deep dish pizza. A lot of fools forget that about half of women have trouble getting back to the way they looked before the were pregnant. Only a lucky few return to their former weight in a few months. For many women it takes much longer and sometimes much, much longer.
Perhaps Mrs. Wallace needs to serve her husband some crow this Saturday night instead of the fried chicken he is expecting.
RE: Little Caesars bacon-wrapped crust pizza
They advertise over 3.5 feet of bacon. Sounds like a lot. But, the pizza is so small I notice their commercial has 2 pizzas side by side to give the impression that it is a big amount of bacon-covered pizza.
Just a bit of advertising manipulation.
I recall years ago a certain name brand soup company got called on their commercials. They apparently put marbles in the bottom of the bowls to make it seem like the soup had more veggies and meat content.
I agree with you, but she has gained a huge amount of weight in a fairly short amount of time. I can’t blame people for being somewhat shocked, here.
I remember him saying his father "had lost it" after Mike's meter maid meat loaf mismatch.
And admitting that he had a man-crush on Romney.
Really people?
Shouldn’t we be making fun of Hillary’s weight?
Who is she supposed to be? Some singer evidently, of music never heard by me.
it’s her body, but it’s not healthy at all
Better than the message JLo sends every week showing up in about half of an outfit.
Chris Wallace is a little bitch....a very short little man with a big mouth. This cheap shot wasn’t called for.
Kelly Clarkson has certainly had a weight issue of late, but it’s her issue.
I have been calling her Thunder Thighs and "Her Thighness" for many years, where have you been?
It seems unnecessarily cruel to me to criticize in public people who are overweight.
LOL
As a former Fatty...I know how it feels to be made fun of.
I would like to make Hillary feel that way. I guess we haven’t been trying hard enough.
Kelly is just another person hitting that age when the metabolism runs down, but the input doesn’t. She will balance that out. Most of us do. At least I can stand to hear her sing.
I laugh it off and learned to live with it. In fact, I will often respond by way of a clever comeback or making my own joke about it. This immediately disarms everybody around and reduces the tension.
For instance, (I am tall too) somebody will ask me "how's the weather up there." Instead of getting offended, I'll reply back something like "Partly cloudy and breezy, how are things down there?" That never fails to crack people up.
Doesn't matter if you are tall, short, excessively skinny, etc., people are going to make comments about it. So best to develop a sense of humor.
People need to stop being perpetually offended all the time.
In that post of yours, with the two pics: I say God Bless her...I hope that, all the same, for her health, that she does lose the extra pounds, because she looks damned good and fit in that top picture.
I remember those on-air conversations with Carr quite a while back...I was just there for the ‘Chump Line’, though.
