Hmmm, I seem to have invented a new caliber! I meant to type 32 acp. Old tired fingers.

Me too, though I'm a little heavier. I wear jeans and a t-shirt mostly. I just never have found a good conceal rig for me. Maybe the Makarov in my waistband. So a 4” model 66 on my belt works good.

Hope you're OK.

If it is the 7 round model it is a good price. But if you can find it at a bargain, the fifteen round model is better and the extra weight reduces recoil noticeably. Bersa’s are excellent weapons, er excellent tools! Yeah, that’s it, tools.

Actually that's why I asked if there was a reason the OP wanted a .380. I've shot the Bersa and thought it was well made and a decent price just a bit large for a .380 unless they've trimmed it down.

'Course I feel the same way about the Walther .380.

The OP was asking for advice and if he or she is choosing .380 for compactness then a Ruger,S&W, Sig or Colt have smaller, thinner pistols.

If recoil is the deciding factor then the Bersa would be a good choice. Not too small and easier to handle than the mouse guns.

The other factor is availability of .380. It's more expensive than, say, 9 mm and much harder to get. During the last big panic it was virtually impossible to find.

.380s can be a handy little pistol. Had 2 Colt Mustang Pocket Lites that I really liked but had to sell when I was in school.

I've heard that Colt is making them again.

Good to hear from you JRandom. Hope you are okay.

Yeah, I know you were. I was just throwing my $0.02 out there.

.380 makes sense for me because I have thousands of rounds available without ever having to buy any more for the rest of my life. Yay Y2K. I didn't buy TP for over a decade. ;)

Most of the auto pistol stuff I've given up for revolvers at this point until I get stronger.

I wasn't attacking you, even if I sound like that sometimes.

Just throwing my bit in there, and why I take very little advice. ;)

No, i knew you weren't attacking. Just thought I'd do some 'splainin' for the benefit of the OP.

Love revolvers too.

Personally I like to carry the largest caliber or most rounds that is practical for the situation.

The AK, AR or M14 is not always appropriate, especially for dress up occassions, except for Redneck weddings and funerals.

If a person doesn't have a decent stockpile of ammo for their weapons by now then their are up their...er...in the clouds.

I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32ACP loaded alternating with Hydra-Shocks and Glaser Safeties, easily concealable. I like the flip barrel feature.

My sister carries that. It is perfect for women. It toploads, right? Only one problem is limp wristing. I have seen it jamb.

Nice gun, nice price. Bud’s gun shop has them for close to that price, so it looks like a good deal to me.

One thing I’d suggest you have a look at though is the Ruger LC9s Pro. It’s not much more, and fires the cheaper and more available 9mm round.

Good luck!

The Bersa 380 was the first I bought. It was extremely reliable. I never doubt it would go bang. I couldn’t do anything to get a failure. It is incredibly simple to clean and works when dirty. My very petit sister could handle it and the 380 round is very managable. My only complaint is spare mags are expensive. Make sure to test the cleaners with the plastic grips. I have never had a problem though. Sadly, it lies at the bottom of a lake.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I wanted something in another caliber because you just don’t know what ammo will be available at any given time, it won’t be my carry piece. I have a S&W J-frame in .38+P and a Springfield XD in .45 ACP for that. Just wanted to hear opinions on whether or not it was a decent deal.
