What Was the WORST Movie You've Seen This Past Year?
Self | March 28, 2015 | PJ-Comix

Yesterday I saw the 1999 movie, The Suburbans on the tube. It was supposed to be a comedy and I thought it might be funny because Ben Stiller was in it. How wrong I was. It was beyond horrible. It turns out that the nobody actor, Donal Lardner Ward, in the lead role also wrote and directed the movie. Fortunately almost nothing has been heard of him since.

So as a public service, please list the WORST movies you've seen in the past year so we know not to waste our time on them.

Starship Troopers II

Yeah, I know it is an old movie but this was my first time seeing it. NOTHING like ST1. Basically it was horror / porn teen flick. I had to rate it a one star because there was nothing lower on the scale.

CRANK 2..with Jason Statham....I thought it might be the usual knock em down stomp on throat Statham flick, but it was really bad...one I’m sure he regrets doing.

Worst movie I’ve seen so far this year? A little grade-zero, poverty row film from Puritan Pictures, entitled “Rip Roaring Riley” from 1935, and starring Lloyd Hughes. Ultra-cheap, poorly filmed, and rather tedious. I often enjoy these types of creaky, low-budget relics, as they can sometimes capture the visual and cultural atmospherics of their eras far better than the kind of prominent, big-studio product one sees on TCM. But some of them can be real clunkers, too.

Birdman reminded me why I don't go to the movies anymore. Did a whole thread on it:

A lot of people disliked Birdman because it felt very confusing to watch. In order to appreciate the movie, think in the mindset of a person living in New York City and suddenly, the movie makes a LOT more sense.

One of the worst was The Great Gatsby. The story is set in 1922, yet the characters drive around in cars from around 1929-1930 and dance to modern-day disco music. Although the film did feature a couple of tunes from the 1920's, they were from the latter part of the decade.

A couple of months ago, I was turned off by Selma due to its historical inaccuracies.

Into the Woods

Awkwardly sung by Meryl Streep.
Even the CGI is horrid.

**please list the WORST movies you’ve seen in the past year***

How about parts of movies as I don’t stay very long on bad ones.

OI saw the old 1965 movie SHE with Ursula Andress and it was ok.

I tried to watch a remake of SHE from 1882 and could not finish it. It was beyond horrible!

Other ones I had to give up on were..
CALIGULA. Even the x-rated version was unwatchable.
VAN HELSING. Never could finish it.
JOHN CARTER. Never could finish it.
And
THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. Too faggy for me. Tried several times but never could finish it.

Oh must not forget the original film BREATHLESS. Like something made by an amateur with an 8 mm camera.

I avoid bad movies as much as possible. However, one movie I looked forward to seeing and was disppointed in how it was presented was Unbroken. All of the human conflict and drama that could have been brought to screen was left out.

“This is where I leave you.”

It was trite and boring long before the trite and boring “shock” scene where the just-widowed matriarch of the family starts making out with the neighbor woman who is the mother of the handsome, sad fellow who was brain damaged in a youthful car accident with the matriarch’s daughter who is still in love with said brain damaged son, but now trapped in a loveless marriage.

My only though at that scene was “How predictable
.”
