A San Jose woman will have to pay $3,000 for her illegal collection of stuffed wildlife.
In addition to the fine, Dora Zepeda's must serve 300 hours of community service for possessing illegal birds of prey in her apartment.
Authorities caught Zepeda after she bought a stuffed French barn owl on eBay.
That bird is a protected species.
If you REALLY want to collect birds and not go to jail, you need to get a windmill.
I don’t think a stuffed barn owl should be protected after its stuffed.
she should have just collected illegals.
This is perhaps the stupidest thing I’ve ever read.
Other than liberal lunacy, why the hell is it illegal to own stuffed animals?
She ought sue the state for absolute unbridled stupidity, and offer a plea bargain to move out of the state, permanently.
Do you know the way to San Jose?
Or a solar cooking tower.
Pick a bald eagle feather off the ground and see what happens to you.
Sure am glad we’re a free people. Imagine what it would be like to live in a totalitarian society!
I mean .... listen ....
When you sit down to fill out ANY form ... or compose something .... YOUR HEAD ACTUALLY SPEAKS TO YOUR SELF
So not only are you being an asshole, you actually TELL yourself you are one and go on and describe exactly what kind of an asshole you are !!
THEN, you go and turn in your report of how and why you're an asshole and ANOTHER asshole actually commends you for such good work ... sends your asshole report up to ANOTHER asshole who sets a date for all the assholes to gather together so ONE asshole (you) pay the rest of the assholes for your all being assholes
I'm pretty sure I have that right ..... and all the time I was typing that, I could hear myself telling my self the words
I may not have proof ... but they're true !
And Bald Eagles aren’t endangered anymore.
“Pick a bald eagle feather off the ground and see what happens to you.”
the packers in Idaho shoot them on sight!
Botswana would sell a limited number of tags to control elephant populations and allow their ivory or anything else from the animal to be harvested.
Kenya took the approach of draconian fines and jail terms for anyone shooting elephants. They would also hold periodic public events where seized tusk, ivory products and other items made from poached elephants were displayed and then tossed into a bonfire using the same logic as the government here.
Funny thing was, Kenyan elephants turned up dead all the time missing only the tusks or other parts sought by the poachers. Harvested Botswana elephants were used to their fullest, populations thrived and the fees generated from selling elephant tags let to better protection of the rest of the herd and enhanced enforcement against poaching.
I got my wisdom teeth out in January, and CA prohibits a person from taking their own teeth in case they want to use them to attack someone and infect them. This state is so messed up. This doesn’t suprise me in the slightest.
A couple of years ago, I found a lower cow jaw that still had some molars on it. I took some pliers and pulled one of them out and boxed it up nice and sent it to my mother for Christmas.
She still talks about that one.
So, the buyer gets fined, but what about the seller?
Notice how the media douches keep implying collecting stuffed animals is illegal as opposed to 1 animal in the collection was illegal to own...
Only in California.
Thank God I don’t live in that state.
For all those who are able, get out! Get out of California while you can!
They're making laws high on crack! They're delusional. Psychotic is the word for the California Legislature. I hope it bites them in the rear.
