General Motors is recalling the extended range electric Chevy Volt because of a possible carbon monoxide risk.
When the Volt is in electric mode its very quiet so its easy for a driver to forget to shut it off and when that happens the battery drains and the gasoline generator starts and if the car is parked in the garage the fumes can get into the house.
Two people have been overcome by carbon monoxide after fumes built up in their houses reports WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert.
The fix will limit the time that a parked Volt can be left running.
The recall involves 64,000 Volts from the 2011 to 2013 model years.
The real issue here is, did GM actually sell 64K?
I didn’t even know they sold 64,000 Volts
I know an person who bought a Chevy Volt. That guy has more money then brains...but wait, I have more money in my pocket than he has brains...thirty-nine sense. He is a smug, holier-than-thou, member of the First Church of Christ EnvironMENTAList.
Almost a year ago, Brietbart had them at 58k.

Check to see which Gov’t agencies were forced to eat 50,000 or so Volts, the other 14,000 in sales can probably attributed to Progressives who bought one just to say they own one or GM employees forced to drive one as a company car.
Heck, who needs chemtrails when ya can just gas em in a car. :-!
Maybe euthanasia friendly nations will buy them and take the elderly and sick for a ride.
But seriesly.. They don’t even know the engine is running?
Nader needs to put out a book about the Volt.....
UNSAFE AT ANY LOCATION!
I hate it when I turn off my car but various electronic gremlins continue to drain the battery. (Not to speak of internal battery currents)
Okay, so idiots that don’t know how to operate vehicle they are driving leave them on parked in their garages and this is GM’s fault how? I drive the roads with morons who can afford an expensive car but have no clue how to drive it, every single day, is that a reason to blame the auto manufacturer?
Why would someone buy an egg car where if you get hit the yolk (socialist) gets dumped onto the highway? Stupidity?
To paraphrase a sports saying....
players play
coaches coach
attorneys sue
LOL my first thought too.
Must be lots were bought by government.
Wait.
People are too stupid to realize that running a gasoline-powered internal combustion engine in a garage WITHOUT an exhaust tube on the pipe leading outdoors can be lethal....
Yet, it’s the MANUFACTURER’S fault?!?!
Man, people are right.
Stupid should hurt.
Yea, unfortunately companies have to idiot-proof their products now.
Fortunately, this will be a simple software fix so that the car will auto-turn-off after a while.
Unsafe Sitting Still.......
Well, I never go anywhere without my personal CO2 detector that fits right on my key chain.
Looks like GM was trying to put an end to some of the stupid.

The Volt has sold around 1,000 to 2,000 a month for about four years now since it was released. Most EV sales in general are on the west coast with the Bay Area being the number one metropolitan area for sales. As of December the Volt specifically had broken 70,000 sold.
As far as government sales, there was a report early on of the Pentagon buying 1,500 Volts and I believe the city of Las Vegas buying 100. (I personally would like to get a Volt as my next car... screw OPEC.)
Need a "High Voltage" warning, heh heh...
