Men who open doors for women are as guilty of sexism as those who are rude to them, according to a new study.
Psychologists found that a friendly or chivalrous attitude can mask chauvinistic and patronizing views because the men see females as weak creatures in need of their protection.
They warned that this benevolent sexism was harder to spot than the hostile version borne out of an open antipathy.
Jin Goh, a psychologist from Northeastern University, Boston, in the U.S., said: While many people are sensitive to sexist verbal offences, they may not readily associate sexism with warmth and friendliness. Unless sexism is understood as having both hostile and benevolent properties, the insidious nature of benevolent sexism will continue to be one of the driving forces behind gender inequality.

It doesn’t matter how the person reacts to having a door opened for them. That’s on them.
You do it because it is the right thing to do.
For a detailed analysis of those underlying issues: Feminist Delusion.
I open / hold doors for men and women.
What does that make me?

LOL.
the same as me. polite.
All men are Sexists. It’s in the DNA, and all Sexists must be punished.
Been doing that since the 60s.
What a crock! Stupid leftist morons!
Young women should open doors for old men, maybe.
Ouch!
A doorman?
What I like to do is hold the door for a woman and then make a sexist comment as she goes through.
I play it safe and only hold open revolving doors.
remember when the proposal was made to draft women? how the feminists screamed!
the moment i hear “we’re sinking - men and children to the lifeboats first” i’ll believe the genders are equal
Having spent several months with both arms in casts, I’ve encountered a whole lot of sexist men and women who opened doors for me, carried packages, and otherwise acted in a manner that I mistakenly interpreted as kind and helpful. I wish I had known then that all those people were secretly prejudiced against men and only hiding their malice behind a warm smile and a friendly gesture.
I always open doors for men and women. It’s the polite thing to do. When I was delivering parcels, I really appreciated those who held the door for me and never failed to say, ‘thank you, I appreciate it.” Kindness begets kindness. Those who view these acts as sexist lead miserable lives.
Bi-Portal
I opened a door for a woman once back in the 80s. She was a small overweight woman and the door was pretty tightly sprung. She called me a male chauvinist pig so I said I’m sorry I’ll do better as I released the door which knocked her down. She cussed me and told me to help her up. I declined and walked away.
I must be a REAALY terrible person. I have opened doors for elderly black women on occasion. I should have asked if she was a lesbian so I can get all my hates out at once.
I don’t hold the door open because you’re a woman. I hold it open because I’m a gentleman.
More Leftist nonsense. What next?
