Tim Tebow 'throwing very accurate,' could try out at NFL veteran combine
CBS ^ | 3-9-15 | Will Brinson

The first NFL veteran combine came and went with no Tim Tebow. But the left-handed college football analyst could show up at the next one after extensive training with Tom Brady's quarterback coach.

Per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, Tebow's been working with Tom House in Los Angeles for the past two years. House told Volin Tebow's improved greatly.

"He went from being a little inaccurate and didn't throw a whole lot of spirals, to throwing very accurate and real good at spinning the ball," House said.

Tebow was really not very good. The only thing he could really do well was win games, be a leader, and perform well when it counted. Other than that, he really sucked.

I live in Denver and saw everyone of Tebow’s games. He made fewer mistakes then Manning. He never choked. He was alwsys a valiant and determined leader. His only NFL drawbacks are he is a lefty, backspin throws off receivers. And most importantly he is the Christian poster child for pro life. That and only that is why he is persona non grata in the cess pool that the NFL has become.

Do you guys really think he was not picked up because of his religious stuff? Really?

The NFL would drool over having a goody-two-shoes as their poster boy. Compare his behavior to Johnny Football or that clown that beats his wife! Trust me, the NFL would love to have the former over the latter.

The guy could not throw a pass consistently. You guys sound like the folks who think that other guy got cut because he was queer. They get cut because they are not the best player available.

He’s a great human being, easy to root for...but not an NFL QB. Throws are erratic, has terrible mechanics and a slow release.

tebow has exactly one and only one drawback for starting as a qb in the nfl. he’s a Christian.

He has a 2 to 1 TD to interception ration and a winning record as a starter. It’s kind of crazy he didn’t get another chance, with some pretty bad QBs out there. I can’t believe he is worse than say, Blane Gabbert.

“Indeed, he is very good. i hope the Saints pick him up.”

That will undoubtably make Drew Brees slake in his cleats.

If the receiver from the Bears, I forget his name, stayed inbounds, Tebow would have played in zero playoff games. Tebow is a great person, but a terrible quarterback. To compare him favorably to Payton Manning, one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, is just silly. He is pesona non grata for one reason and one reason only, he could not play the position of quarterback at a NFL level. There are plenty of other quarterbacks with the same beliefs as Tebow, Russell Wilson comes to mind, and they are still there for one reason, they can play.

Or maybe the Packers can sign him. I can see him beating Aaron Rodgers in training camp. It would be given, you know why, he believes in the same social issues as I do. If he can reach the sidelines with his throws is unimportant, just his social views. (sarc)

Tebow seems like a great guy and was a great college player.

...

Yes he is, and everything I posted is true.

Can you really say we have enough evidence to say he’s bad? He had a winning record. But more impressive, he had a nearly 2 to 1 TD to interception ratio. There are a lot of starters out there who don’t have that. To me, that alone is enough to say he should have been given a chance to at least be a backup. I’ve seen a lot of terrible QBs playing the last few years.

By these standards, John Elway never should have gotten the chance to play in 5 Super Bowls. His first year he was awful.

Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel may be terrible people, but I don’t think their is enough data to say either can’t play QB in the NFL. Manziel played 1.5 games.

Tebow had less than a season worth of starts. I think the NFL can be very short-sighted these days.

(For the record I was never a fan of either Manziel or Tebow, but just by my observation they haven’t been given a fair shot yet)

Troy Aikman was 1 & 15 in his first season, or at least the team was.

I think that Steve Walsh was the starter for the only game they won, plus he started some other games.

What I saw of Tebow with the Broncos was a quarterback who did not throw the ball a whole lot, because his coach did not trust him to throw. The Broncos won that year with a great defense. All the Broncos wanted from Tebow was to not turn the ball over. I will give him that, he did not. However those games were the damndest things you could ever watch. Tebow would go three and out for the first three quarters, while the defense kept the score tight. Tebow seemed to make just that one play to win the game at the end. His run against the Jets as an example. The game with the Bears was something else. All the Bears had to do was keep the ball inbounds and the clock would run out, but the Bears receiver stepped out of bounds, Broncos got the ball back and pulled a victory out of the jaws of defeat. In both games Tebow was just awful right up to those last moments. That is not what makes a good NFL quarterback. As for Manziel, I think his cocaine problem had a lot to do with his lack of playing time.

I didn't say it wasn't true. His .500 winning percentage (1-1) in the playoffs for Denver is better than Manning's .400 winning percentage (2-3) in the playoffs for Denver. Ultimately meaningless.

I didn't say he played fantastic, but he played well enough to find a spot somewhere. How many backups out there have two to one TD to interception ration? Most of them dont have a one to one. He did seem to grind, and then have some good plays at the right time. But lots of good QBs didn't play well their first year starting.

I will say, his winning TD in the playoffs against Pittsburgh was a great throw. Looked like a Joe Montana pass.
