Mystery 'noise' could be an Earth-like world...signals suggest habitable planet...22 light years...

Astronomers believe mysterious signals - previously dismissed as stellar bursts - are coming from an Earth-like planet.

The Gliese 581d planet has conditions that could support life, and is likely to be a rocky world, twice the size of Earth.

Signals from the planet were initially discovered in 2010, but last year dismissed as noise from distant stars.

It's actually not quite that bad. Doubling a planet's mass does not double the gravity on the surface, because the surface will be further from the centre and the inverse square law applies. Without doing detailed calculations I would guess that this planet's surface gravity is roughly 1.5G. Very uncomfortable but can be tolerated.

They've released a picture of one of the inhabitants.

"stellar bursts"

Something like electrostatic discharge? Lightning? Wind vortex static?

I had to look awhile actually.

I tried searching BAD and dubcrappers were using that to mean GOOD.

And I found one that was kind of sucky (I didn’t want keyboard leadoffs or other things that sounded like music from the past 30 years) and the commenters were saying ‘that’s not half bad!!!’

so I started to search for WORST

But it all sounds horrible to me.

And you did that in 3 minutes ?

I’m not buying that.

For some reason you have this crap queued up.

You’re into some weird stuff and that is what I’m about.

Apollo 10...holds the record for the highest speed attained by a manned vehicle with 11.08 km/s (24,791mph)

Lots of work to be done to make 22ly in 200 years.

Here on Earth, dubstep and rock opera have given way to dubstep opera.

I give you Spider-Man 2: Electric Choo-Choo.

That will probably be running on tv with a double feature of the 4th BatMan movie.

I’m into much better weird stuff than that dubnonsense.

That is awesome.

How is it so readily accessible to you?

You’re making my point.

Who are you?

Besides a stellar goldilocks zone, there’s a galactic one that most astronomers disregard. Terra is on the outer surface of the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way. Any deeper in is insufficiently conducive to life. This by Ball State astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez.

22 light years?

No problem.

If we could figure out how to travel back 22 years in time, we could get there in no time.

If we could get up to 1/100th of the speed of light, a generation ship could be then in only two millennia.

I knew the Pakistani clip and it’s even been reissued on record for the west. I don’t know any other pakistani songs like it.

I didn’t know the dub one.

I do know some others though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GASANb4yb40

(and see how much longer this one took that I knew about)

A lot of it is wandering down a rabbit hole. Look at the clips posted by the person or look at youtube’s suggestions.

Or pair odd words together (note, even searching for the Beatles can now return Rolling Stones clips). The searches aren’t very precise.
