The Mass Murderer on Your $20
Daily Beast ^ | February 26, 2015 | Arthur Chu

Posted on 02/26/2015 11:13:23 AM PST by C19fan

So we’re in late February, which means it’s the season for local Jefferson-Jackson Days, when local Democratic Parties hold potlucks to raise money and get people pumped for Get Out the Vote drives. It’s also shortly after President’s Day, which is, for me, always a day spent reminiscing about random presidential trivia and tweeting unpopular opinions.

And for once one of those unpopular opinions caught the attention of an editor and now I’m writing about how the “Jackson” in Jefferson-Jackson Day is an abomination. Indeed, I want to grab my fellow Democrats who say stupid, historically ignorant things about how George W. Bush was “the worst President ever” by the lapels and shove them at Andrew Jackson’s Wikipedia entry, rubbing their nose in it until they understand what they did.

What a PC self-righteous putz. I am surprised the guy did not say we should immediately put Obama on the $20.

"The Trail of Tears is one of the largest-scale acts of ethnic cleansing in history"

Really! How about what happened to the Carthaginians, what Julius Caesar did to Gaul, what happened to the Jews after the two failed revolts against the Romans, would what the Mongols did all over the Eurasian continent count as one or would each leader get their own award, and let us not forget what happened during and after WW II, or the Jews being forced to relocate from all over the Middle East to Israel.

It won’t be long before they go after the guy on the one-dollar bill, because he owned slaves.

Jackson would not want his face on any Federal Reserve note. He fought against a central bank way back when.

Don’t forget what Mohammed did to North Africa.

That is the ultimate irony. Jackson has a place because he was the first leader in the world elected by a mass electorate.

I forget the Armenians and the split of British India. All these events make the Trails of Tears look like child play.

The guy on the $5 bill:

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.”

Good. Let’s put Reagan on the $20.00 bill then.

Jackson was a mixed bag. He did a few things I agree with but he was rather “Obamaesque” in his methods.

Well, that’s an interesting point. If Jackson and his pal bankers comprised the Fed today— he’d love to be on the bill LOL.

Jackson funneled money away from the 2nd US Bank, into his crony pal bankers banks.... he, defunded the national bank that is. Very corrupt guy even for the standards of that day. The “turning a blind eye” on the Georgia titled Cherokee lands and plantations, and forcing all of these to Oklahoma, to make way for the gold rush in Dahlonega— utterly criminal. He turned on the very Cherokee that helped him defeat the Creeks. An opportunist to say the least.

Or the Turks genocide of Armenian Christians, and Jews. More than 2 million.

This writer is an a@@. Jackson was too, but nowhere near the Turks or Genghis Khan or....

Jackson was one of the founding fathers of the Democrat party so I’m not surprised.

That guy killed about 700,000 of his fellow Americans (7,000,000 equivalent today) for some abstraction called “the union”, in other words, the federal government. Pure evil.

Thank you for your post. I was not aware of the cronyism angle of his actions regarding the 2nd Bank of the United States.

Andrew Jackson, is if not the worst president we’ve ever had (he’s at least in the running alongside Andrew Johnson), definitely the worst president who shows up in lists of the best presidents.

Seriously, having his face on the money cements his place as one of “the greats” among most Americans because most Americans seem to know nothing about the man. There is not a single significant accomplishment of his administration that you can defend today as a positive thing.

Oh I don’t know about that.

I know that the writer is a Dimocrat but how can you pass on the fact that Jackson is the only president to leave office with the republic absolutely debt free.

That is an unparalleled accomplishment.

First of the “post founding father” presidents (I include John Quincy Adams because he had a front row seat to the founding).
