A woman who survived a Nazi gas chamber because it ran out of gas is preparing to celebrate her 101st birthday. Klara Marcus, 100, from the town of Sighetu Marmatiej in the northern Romanian county of Maramures was captured in 1944 and sent to the infamous Nazi death camp Auschwitz in southern Poland. Then aged 30, she was forced to strip naked along with hundreds of other women and marched into the gas chamber. She said: "I was chosen towards the end of the day with a large group of other women and we were made ready for the gas chamber. "But when they put us inside and went to turn the gas on, they found they had run out. "One of the guards joked that it was our lucky day because they had already killed so many they didnt have any gas left for us.

Yes. I remember Brian Williams’s report from the camp that day.
Her name is Klara Marcus, from Romania. Was she Jewish, Gypsy or just on HItler’s list? The story doesn’t say. Very amazing case. She ran away from the camp after they ran out of gas, and made it. Can’t imagine why the others didn’t do the same. A 1 out of 1000 chance of surviving a breakout is better than staying at that place.
The FEMA camps won’t be making that mistake.

Was Geraldo there too?...lol

She said that realising she had nothing to lose she had taken her life in her hands and managed to escape before they called for her again. She said: "After I got free I managed to make my way back to my home to look for my family." It was then that she found that they too had gone and she had to rebuild her life alone. In celebration of her upcoming birthday on January 1st, government representative Anton Rohian turned up at her home. He said: "I brought you a bunch of flowers, a bottle of champagne and an excellency diploma to thank you because youve returned to Maramures after all youve been through. "Its important not to forget what happened in the past." Kissing the Romanian flag, Klara said: "Ive had terrible experiences in my life, but this is a wonderful moment." Over one million people were killed in Auschwitz which was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945.She looks pretty good for 101! God Bless her.
Zyklon B pellets ran out I imagine.
Peculiar accounting of Aushwitz gassing since the gas was actually from a can of Zyklone B powder dispensed through grates in the roof. There was no ‘turning’ it on so to speak. Journalistic embellishment I’m sure.
Bill O’Reilly was his wing man
Or a slight translation error. Despite the name in the link, the story is from The Romanian Times.
You think the CBS video doesn’t show what it shows and is accurate (33 years later)?
The earlier camps, like Treblinka, used carbon monoxide from tank engines, in those cases the gas was "turned on."
The “turning on” may refer to the opening of the venting system. People entered when the vents were closed, and once the doors were shut behind them, the vents were “turned on” so the gas could enter the chambers.
Happy birthday
When God couldn’t decide 7 or 8 days, he called Brian Williams to confer.
Heaters and blowers are turned on to quickly vaporize the Zyklone B poison and disperse it in the room. I don’t know what process was used to heat the pellets, but it may have been with some type of bottled gas, and they ran out of it. In any case, the process requires an operator to turn the process on and off.
Wow good grief! I feel sorry for her having to go through that horror. Thank God she made it!
I wish her a Happy Birthday
