Some of the albums I listen to all the time that never get old.
Hums of the Lovin’ Spoonful
Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplaine
Mad Man Across the Water by Elton John
My Aim is True, This Year’s Model and Armed Forces by Elvis Costello
Machine Head by Deep Purple
Blood on the Tracks and Desire by Bob Dylan
Just to name a few.

The trouble is...the version that gave me nightmares got a LOT of radio play about the same year as “The Ballad of the Green Berets.” And that was 1966. Wikipedia tells me that there was a Country version by Ronnie Hawkins in 1963. That sounds good because this was a southern radio station, but 1963 is just too early.
Quicksilver Messenger Service had their hit in 1969, and that is way too late. At least, I think it is....
So....I will probably never know.

WITCH DOCTOR (David Seville) 1958 original version, Yep, remember it well. Another
Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. by Katie Kissoon, she occasionally does studio work with Eric Clapton. The summer of 1971 it was a huge hit, it seemed WABC played it constantly. It's a silly song but catchy ;)

Just before my 5th birthday, in '67, we took the train out to California. My parents took me to Disneyland.
So...imagine after that, for a 5 year old, everything is Disneyland this and Disneyland that.
Well I had gotten this record, while there.

Now I need to go look to see if I still have that album.

ABSOLUTELY! They don't write songs about Priuses or Chevy Volts. Not yet, anyway. Maybe someone needs to do some spoofs. Paging Weird Al.

I grew up listening to my parent’s copies of “Songs by Tom Lehrer” and Dave Brubeck’s “Time Out featuring Take Five.” I don’t have the Tom Lehrer album, but I definitely have copies of Brubeck.
