Comcast is now offering in my area a triple-play package (TV, phone, and Internet) that is much cheaper than what I'm paying now with Verizon. No contracts either.
But I've heard many bad things about Comcast. Is that all in the past, or is Comcast still a mess? Your thoughts, please.
Customer service sucks. Once the honeymoon phase is over, they’ll jack your rate up over 150%. Anytime you need a service tech out, it’s $75 I believe.
We just got the new “smart & faster” internet connection—IMO it’s worse than before and my WI-FI signal is much weaker.
For me it’s either them or AT&T, so either way it’s not good. I’m thinking about cancelling them all together except the internet and just stream shows from Netflix on WIFI on my TV.
Just my opinion and experience....
It’s been 10 years or so now but the reason I dropped ‘em back then was unbelievably poor customer service. Can’t say 1st hand how it is nowadays but I have heard bad things but don’t let my comments alone deter you......Just my 2 cent. Good luck.
Do some online searches about their reputation, customer service, reliability, etc. In a world full of evil, screw-the-consumer corporations, Comcast appears to top them all.
And I can personally confirm the depths to which Comcast has sunk it's customer service.
My local customer service center moved....
I visited the old location to pay my bill...and the doors were closed.
comcast is allegedly in the COMMUNICATIONS business...yet no attempt was made to inform customers...VIA ..gulp... EMAIL....of thier move.
they have lists of customers dont they? they couldnt type up and announcement and blast it to the entire local customer list??
“too big to care”
I thought Comcast was bad until I moved out west and now have Charter. Comcast is an angel by comparison. I have Netflix + Charter internet, which saves me a bundle over Charter TV. And if you have a cell phone, why do you need a land line?
I receive a much better product and service from Comcast than I did from AT&T. It’s cheaper too.
I had their TV service for a while and did not like it. It had very few HD channels and had reliability issues - although my experience was more than 10 years ago.
On the other side of the coin, their internet service was the fastest and most reliable I have ever had. I recently moved and Comcast internet is not available at my new home. I wish it was.
Don’t ever pay Comcast with your credit card.
Try to call them, there is NO phone number to be found, it takes a research project to cancel your service.
Use A Satellite Provider, they do internet.
Stay away! Stay far, far away!!!
I fired them about 7 yrs. ago after a continuing comedy of errors which circled around their seemingly complete inability to deliver me an accurate bill. My wife tried to straighten that out with them on the phone, and was verbally abused by their representative (at an Indian call center). I demanded and eventually got an apology, but then the nonsense with the billing continued.
I got fed-up and dumped them in favor of DirecTV. They sent a tech to my house in a Comcast van wearing a Comcast uniform to retrieve their digital converter box. A couple of weeks later I got a nasty letter from them accusing me of stealing the converter, along with a bill for the converter ($634).
I tried many, many times to get their “customer service” people to resolve this, but they could or would not. Told me it was my fault for not getting a receipt (from a tech wearing Comcast’s uniform driving Comcast’s van) Finally got so frustrated I googled the name of the person who was in charge of ad sales for their Comcast Spotlight channel. I threatened to contact every one of their advertisers with my story and demand that they withdraw their advertising from a company with such inept customer service (and I had managed to memorize enough of the names of their advertisers to convince her I was serious). That finally got them to resolve this.
The converter turned up on one of their trucks in Maryland several weeks later. The tech who came to my house was apparently a contractor who never logged it back in.
For awhile my boss had Comcast internet service at the office, and I would overhear him getting into the same sort of screaming matches I used to have with them. I’d just sit at my desk and laugh. He fired them too.
Even though I have not been their customer for years, I am STILL having headaches with them because their wire that runs from my house to a pole across the street blew down in a storm. A passing employee of the electric company rigged it up temporarily with duct tape so it would not impede traffic. Now it just impedes access to my yard. That was a month ago. I am about to make my 4th. and final attempt to get them to come out and fix this. Next step will be bolt cutters.
Read the very fine print.
Most of these ‘introductory price’ bundles jump significantly when the ‘introductory’ period ends. Your $130 ‘introductory’ price could easily jump up over $200.
I hear that the hard line is not managed thru Comcast and is almost impossible to cancel.
You are better off to just get the internet portion and netflix the rest
I wouldn’t piss on COMCAST if its CEO was on fire.
Other than occaisional outages and signal problems in my over wired house I have had good experience and response from them for about 15 years now. If the bill gets too high just call them up and they lower it because they know there is competition in the neighborhood. My neighbor went Verizon then went back to Comcast after a year. I have the X1 system and 10 TV’s attached to cable.
Comcast offers lower prices, but they do not have the service infrastructure to keep your connection going. This is fine when they were just delivering cable, not so fine when they also supply you with phone and internet.
COMCAST provides THE WORST customer service known to man. Worse than a Soviet butcher shop. Worse than a concentration camp suggestion box. Worse than...
You get the picture.
