I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?

One of my aides in TX was also her mother’s caregiver (she lived in the same complex) and while I had the gal for two hours a day (here, it’s only two hours every two weeks). She used to come to me and cry because her mother’s condition was deteriorating almost daily.

The woman had 10 kids and only my aide (the youngest) would care for her. No one else wanted the job.

The mom got to where she knew me if I saw her every day, but let a day or two go between and I had to be introduced again. I would hug her and tell her I was glad to meet her.

I tried to help the daughter understand that the mom had to be treated like another child, and just knowing that she could talk to me made the job easier for her. I miss that gal. She was so good to me and her mom.

I thought for sure we were moving, but the van hasn’t shown up, yet, so I’m thinking there was a slight delay.

Maybe the dwarves and the zombies couldn’t get together on the Lower Levels. Either that, or the walls and doorways began to shift again and they got lost. I suppose we should listen for some burrowing sounds, in case they are trying to come up into the habitats.

I like both your taglines!

There has been discussion of moving a couple of times, but unless the van comes and hauls my stuff away while I’m asleep, I’ll still be here.

I’ve never really liked the Frost poem and I finally figured out why. There’s actually no difference between the roads, Frost was being sarcastic. (OK, I’ve never really understood poetry.)

So the tagline is my little pushback.

I often thought poets were over-rated. However, there is one poet whose profundity is never, ever too obscure.

And I would love to have a book of those poems... *hint-hint*

I have lost another two pounds. Today was supposed to be walk day, but the doctor’s appointment kinda threw that off, so I will walk tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also the day when I will head for the laundry room and get my clothes done. I hope I have enough quarters. It’s been so long since I did them here that they have all new energy efficient machines for $1.25 each, and .75 to dry. I will only dry sheets and towels at those prices.

And I will be getting new prescriptions for the nebulizer meds today, but they will have to wait to be picked up. I think Walmart holds them a week. I have my share of the paperwork filled out for the cancellation of the flights and will give it to the doctor today when I see her. I don’t know how long it will take for her to fill out her section, but I need to get it to her.

If nothing else, I can reschedule the flights within a year, so you might want to think about that and give me some feedback.

As soon as I get the receipt from the DMV, I will go ahead an budget the new plates into July’s bills. The paperwork is all filled out but for the mileage, and I will take that info at the DMV. Now if I can only remember how to get the plate frame off...

Congratulations, and good luck with all the other stuff. We’re supposed to have the power-wash guy at noon. There’s mold on the back of the house where it never gets any sun.

I thought this was the mold capital of the country. Some of the stuff is really vile.

One of the properties handled by Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority had such a nasty mold problem that they had to tear down about three-quarters of the dwellings and rebuild them. I personally think that the problem is caused and exacerbated by sloppy housekeeping and negligence.

But no one pays me to think!

Our laundry room has machines that don’t take quarters. You have to have a special card (which costs) and then you put money on the card via a separate machine which takes plastic, but I don’t think takes cach.

Brave new world.

Well, grandpa’s dementia is not very advanced; he is still VERY HIGHLY functional in many ways. Stroke-induced brain damage has, however, all but totally destroyed his sense of better judgment, his ability to realize implications, and his ability to “get” things by inference. So, unless a scam artist just about comes right out and says, “Hey, I’m just yankin’ yer chain; I’m really a Nigerian scammer,” he’ll probably never pick up on it.

The hardest part, though, is that his remaining high level of functionality leads him to believe he’s FINE, and that he doesn’t NEED to be a legally Protected Person; that the conservatorships of Person and Estate are superfluous legal infringements he can do without. Worse, with the aid of a “girlfriend” he met a month ago online, he’s got enough mobility to get out and talk to various agencies all over and undermine the legal authority of his guardian and conservator.

We’re having a “Come To Jesus” meeting TODAY failing which we may need to have someone arrested for “Undue Influence.” The girlfriend helped gramps close his existing bank accounts, and open new ones, because we were able to watch the activity in the old ones. When he set up the new accounts, under her influence, he made her a signer on those new accounts. She has direct, unfettered access; it’s borderline “Elder Abuse” under CA State Law.

Yeah, so it’s a razzle-dazzle day out West. Your prayers would certainly be appreciated.

With all the feeble-minded, drug-dependent, alcoholic residents, giving them something like a cash card for the laundry would probably make them think they were in the casino and beat the machines up because they aren’t paying out.

Your family will be in my prayers. What a difficult situation. He’s fortunate that he has you looking out for him.

You all most definitely have my prayers.

What an awful situation to watch happening. It sounds VERY close to Elder Abuse, and I would certainly take steps to stop it and try to get the funds back.

That is so sad. I will ask your Guardian Angels to give you strength and wisdom today. You need both. *hug*

These getlemen were playing high-stakes poker in a casino when suddenly a blond comes in and heads to the coke machine. She puts in her money and gets a drink. Then she lets out a little cheer which upsets the poker players significantly.

Oddly enough, instead of taking her drink and moving on she puts in more money, gets another drink, and lets out another cheer. Then she repeats it a third and fourth time.

At this point the poker players have had enough and one of them turns and asks her, “Excuse me, miss, but what are you doing?”

Her reply - “DUH! Winning!!!”

You have my prayers.

There was a handyman who did a lot of odd jobs for my wife’s dad at pretty high rates - but my F-I-L is in his right mind, just not the brightest bulb in the drawer.

Well, so here’s my problem.

I start out with a poem that reads, “How do I love thee, let me count the ways.”

And I think, “OK, I earn a living which I share fully with you. You do laundry and clean the apartment. You shop for food and you cook when we have company. You have lots of projects ongoing which I support fully whether they’re free or cost money. And I listen to you tell me about those projects on a day when I really didn’t want to go to work.”

I count that as 1, I made you a partner in my life. But this poem went into things that make no sense to me, so how exactly am I supposed to count the ways?

It makes no sense.

It makes no sense.

That's what makes it poetry. Seriously.

“He’s fortunate that he has you looking out for him.”

If HE believed that things would be ENTIRELY different.
