A county or two can be a long ways. Until the Corps of Engineers opens the levees . But that was a different storm..
Up here a county or two west puts me awful close to Doltin’ Joe’s hometown of Scranton. A county or two south puts me at the water gap. A county or two east gets me into Connecticut and a county or two north puts me close enough to thumb my nose (or make other hand gestures) at BleepingSon-of-former-emperor-Cuomo.
How big did you say those counties are down there?

Yep..
I have a friend down in NJ whose house is on the banks of some brook that is bound. Or maybe it’s the Bound Brook. Anyway in times of plentiful rain like say Hurricane Sandy the Brook becomes unBound.
He said that that’s about how close the water was to coming under his sliding glass patio door.
Missed it by that much...

The state of Maryland has 23 counties plus the city of Baltimore. Two of the counties have names that were derived from Indian words.

Fault is the wrong word. I’m sure you did nothing to deserve what you got just as I’m sure nobody’s perfect.
Most of the blame game has a built-in wish that things could have stayed the way they were. From my perspective (distant as it is) the change is better for you, even though it hurts now.
But it isn’t about you being a lesser human being. Again, from here, it just ain’t so!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. At this point, the pain is still raw, but easing. It’s so hard to fill my days, now.
I’m sure if I could find something interesting and productive to do I could get through this easier.
It won’t kill me, but it will make me wiser. Sad to admit, I’ve been through this before, but I never thought I’d be given the sucker punch to my heart again. Dang me.

I can’t even uninstall this insidious piece of “protection.” I have to wait for the techs to get in and sober up. Or sober up and get in. At any rate, I’ve been using my phone for banking info and I REALLY don’t want to do that.
I’m thinking of doing a System Restore, but I really hate the downtime of waiting for the updates to catch up with the current system. It takes several hours and I have to babysit the PC so it doesn’t shut off in the process.

I couldn’t find the download for this laptop at MS. It’s a Win 8.1, 64 bit.

I can’t wait around for the tech to call “eventually.” I’m going to do a System Restore and plan my day around sitting here. See y’all later.

I think you just go
here and it will download the correct one for you when you run the install. Did that not work?
As for removing the pre-installed software, what happend when you tried to uninstall using the Control Panel?

Try telling it you’re going to install its RAM chips into an electronc toaster if it doesn’t behave.
These things have feelings.
