I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?

Think you, not much happened to me at seventeen other than this, and the dang song.

"Think you, not much happened to me at seventeen other than this, and the dang song."

Ah, yes. "When I was seventeen, it was a very good year ..."

We’ve discussed getting a new seat, but what’s the point?

Don’t get one just because I’m coming...it’s not like I was moving in, so I can deal with whatever is available! LOL!

I love Sinatra. Best musician to come out of my state, IMHO.

That’s why I liked the Homer satire.

Nah. Didn’t love it.

But then I am very persnickety. An almost certain way to get my hackles up is to say, “You will love this.”

I’d love to get a new chair, but as long as Tom is at home, it wouldn’t survive for me to enjoy.

Not used to dealing with curmudgeons? I can’t speak for all of them, for they are fearfully independent cusses, but I am not offended by much other than blatant stupidity.

You’re not going to do that, even if you try, so don’t worry about it.

Best way to handle it is to let the curmudgeon handle it, without giving clues about what you expect.

When I was in grade school, people would come up to me and thrust some substance under my nose commanding me to “smell this!”

I would look at them with a carefully neutral expression and nod politely, and then say, “Yes, that’s interesting.”

They were always put off by my lack of reaction, but the truth is that I wasn’t smelling what they proffered; I was holding my breath.

It was almost always something noxious or unpleasant. Only very rarely might it be something nice, and then I could simply ask to smell it again.

So being presented with stuff completely at random is something I’ve learned can be disturbing. I like to make up my own mind about things. I should probably start teaching a class about it. The world needs more curmudgeons, doesn’t it?

Been so long since I've wetted a reed that I probably couldn't play it anymore anyway.

Or Take Five either... ;-)

Haven't played in 5/4 time in years - guess I'm getting old. Not to mention that the olde instrument probably now needs a complete pad job to enable more than squawks..
