The nerve it took just to climb inside boggles my mind.

There is a great book on the divers that went down in Pearl Harbor for ship salvage operations after the attack.
Talk about having nerves of steel.

More sobering, this last crew was the THIRD to climb inside.
The first two died in their seats, drowning for their state’s freedom.

Back when men were really MEN.
To: Kartographer
From the bottom of the article.
In April 2004, thousands of men in Confederate gray and Union blue walked in a procession with the crew's coffins four miles from Charleston's waterfront Battery to Magnolia Cemetery in what has been called the last Confederate funeral.
I thought these men were pulled out many years ago. Certainly not a very clear title to the AP’s article, is it?

Indeed. I love asking Southernphobes how can you be for the liberty of slaves while enslaving your brothers? Of course, you have to explain it to them first, and then their little wheels turn for so long trying to wrap their little minds around it I just laugh and walk away.

I saw it a few years back in the tank. Hard imagining getting in that tiny death trap.

Plus too much Socialism has killed most of their brain synapses so they can’t make the connection. :-)

Speaking of Pearl Harbor, there were a few Jap ‘mini-subs’ in on that attack, and those things were pretty dangerous too!
I believe they lost them all. Not sure. I know they captured at least one of them and one of their crew on a beach.

Wasn’t Clive Cussler involved in finding it? Or was that something else?

Read “The Sea Hunters”. Great book about all the wrecks NUMA has found. Lots of good history and very entertaining.

He’s probably looking for Confederate ironclad warships in the Sahara Desert!
Anyone notice his movie SAHARA never mentioned WHY that ship went to the Sahara or what happened to all the crew? It was just a ploy to have his characters explore the Sahara.
