A sports bar is a great place to watch the big game. But if youre buying a TV for your Super Bowl party at home, Consumer Reports has complete buying advice. Its testers say a screen thats at least 50 inches or larger is a good size for a crowd.
Testers in Consumer Reports labs size up hundreds of TVs every year. Also important is a set that delivers a wide viewing angle. When youre watching a big game with a crowd of friends, not everyone is going to get that great seat front and center. One of the concerns with some LCD and LED TVs is that the picture can start to look washed out when you view it from an angle.
Another considerationhow well the TV can handle fast action. Sports is one of the types of content that can really stress a TVs ability to present fast-moving scenes without the image blurring. So Consumer Reports tests for that.

Though youll see big sales of televisions leading up to the Super Bowl, Consumer Reports says that youll get even better deals in late February and early March, when retailers clear out older sets to make way for the new.
If you are a Patriots fan you will want a flat screen. ;-)
All together now WHO CARES!!!!!
If the Superbowl was shown on the FX channel at 9PM CST on Wednesday, I would be very pissed because that would have meant that I missed an episode of ‘Justified’.
Will be watching on our 60in 3D LED, but I don’t really give a damn about the game or the commercials.
I’ve fallen out of love with the NFL during recent years, but still enjoy the playoffs and the Super Bowl. In spite of the ‘Ballghazi’ scandal, I hope the Patriots trash Seattle. I hate that team, and city.
For a big screen and a sports event, you really need a refresh rate of 240. With a smaller screen (42 inches or less) you could probably get by with 120.
I’ve had a Samsung HD TV for about four years now. Great set, no problems.
I’m still using a 19” TV from 1983. Fortunately, I don’t watch the Super Bowl.
I think Samsung makes the very best TVs.
I’ve owned a 52in LCD for 6 years now, and it’s still as good as the day we took it out of the box.
We bought a new Samsung LED last year(gave the other one to the kids), and it has been terrific! One perk, if you have a Samsung phone or tablet, you can install the ‘SmartView’ App, and watch your TV on your mobile device, from anywhere within range of your home wireless network. Comes in handy sometimes. You can also use it as a remote.
I also hope the cheaters beat the thugs. I hate thugs.
‘Mouse Ears’ on top of it!!? (sorry...)
Thanks for the tip. We just got a 50 inch Samsung 4k set.
I hate both teams and cities. I hope an asteroid plows into the game at kickoff!
I bought a bid Samsung LCD TV and it died very soon after.
I made a promise never to buy anything Samsung ever again and have kept that
For later.
